GROWS WORSE Ten New Gases Yellow Feuer In Jackson ONLY ABOUT 200 WHITES Are Left In The City. Detention Camp Organized. Jackecn. Mrs. Oct. 3. — Ihr yellow fever situation in Jackson grows steadily worse in spite of all efforts to prevent the spread of the disease. Today’s record of nev* cases, ten, is the highest yet, and as a result of the anaouncement more people are leaving the city for northern points. The new cases include four whites. Mrs. Kuvanbugh and three in the Hendrix family on South street, a hitherto uninfected lo cality. The other cases are negroes in the originally infected district. Miss Annabell Rhodes is conval escing. The negro, Shades Young, is expected to die tonight. Other caaes are doing very well. The to tal number of cases in the city to date is 22, with 3 deaths. Dr. Grant, who was sent to in vestigate the suspicious case at Winona, reports that he discover ad no diagnostic s? mptoms of yel low fever. Dr«. Gant and Birchett report from Taylori two new cases, one seriously ill. No report from Or wood. Dr. Haralson reports from Ox ford one new case. There are now only about 200 white peop’e in the town. A detention camp is being established where 300 or 400 ne groes will be placed from .Water Valley. Dr. Gant reports one new case and three suspicious .He asks for an immune physician and tw< nurses. A suspicious case is reported from Port Gibson by Health Os fleer Reduce and an expert inves tigation is asked. Dr. Dunn was sent. Several other portion? of the s.ate also report suspicious case.- and arrangements have been made to have experts investigate. Dr. Bunn reports three new cases and two deaths from Harrison. Caught by a Saw In His MIL and Cut m Two. Sellinsgrove, Pa., Oct. 3 Judge 11. C. Samj of Centre ville, Snyder county, met with an awful death today at his saw mill near that place. While en gaged in arranging some gearing at one of the circular saws in motion he was caught and cut in two. Death was almost in stantaneous. Mr. Sampsel was one of the associate judges of the courts of this county and was about 36 years old. Next Monday the courts convene here with but one associate on the bench. Washington, Oct. 3. —As the re sult of the conference between Secretary Alger and Adjutant Gen. Corbm this afternoon the slate containing the list of places for war camps was somewhat changed. Instead of an even divide between Georgia and South Carolina, as was at first contemplated, Georgia gets seven camps and South Caro lina three. Atlanta heads the list. Two brigades w ill, under the present p'ans, be sent there and expected that they will go about the Ist of November. It is the intention of the de partment that all the troops now* at Camp Meade, at Lexington ai.d at Knoxville shall be moved to these new winter camps the Ist of November. The other Georgia cities at which camps are to be located are Au gusta, Athens, Americus, Albany. Columbus and Macon. The three South Carolina camps are to be Greenville, Spartanburg and Columbia. It was also definitely settled that Savannah is to have the gen era! winter hospital. There was talk of putting one each at Ba* vannah and Charleston, but Sa* vannaii was decided upon.
