Brunswick, Ga., Oct. 7. Iwo
bodies were found in the marsh
near Brunswick today, one
white, Capt. Frank Cummings ;
the other colored. __
Avery, master of the tug Mc-
Cauley, from Savannah, arrived
here last night and reports four
vessels ashore at Sapelo island,
one the Norwegian bark Agnes
Campbell, loaded with lumber
for Darien; the tug Crescent City
and two schooners.
From confirmatory reports
now in, the loss on land and sea
of life around Darien and
Brunswick is 120—nine tenths
colored. These reports are se
cured from reliable sources and
are verified as far as possible.
The losses are distributed as fol
lows : Seven Brunswick, twenty
Campbell island, seventy to
eighty Butler's island, five Do
boy and eight on an unknown
vessel wrecked oft St. Andrews
bar.
The property loss, including
Darien, Brunswick, Sapelo, St.
Simons, Jekyl. Cumberland and
Wolf islands, surounding rice
fields, stock, cattle and build
ings, at conservative figures, is

feet high, is reported by the :
keeper to have hit it.
All the Wolf Island clubhouse
buildings were washed away.
The family living there have not
yet been heard from and are
supposed to be drowned . 1
Pilot Frank Fader, on St.
Andrews bar, arrived today and
reports that his boat, Mau le
Helen, is on a bluff twenty feet
above high water. His report
also enumerates the following
disasters : One unknown three
masted schooner loaded with
coal was dashed to pieces on the
south breakers, ten miles from
St. Andrews light and all hands,
estimated at eight, were lost.
The Hotel Cumberland prop
erty was damaged 15,000. Ma
con row was completely ruined.
The seas washed the underpin
ning away and wrecked it all.
The pavillion was washed up on
the railroad track. Atlanta row
was unrooted and undermined.
The main hotel building’s cupola
ii gone and portions of the roof.
The steamboat dock had noth
ing left but the piling.
The main bluff at High Point,
Cumberland, is washed away
from one hundred to one hun
k dred and fifty feet ba'ik into
the mainland.

The housekeeper of Charles
Moody, on the south end of
Jekyl, is gone, and Moody has
not been heard from. Jekyl dock
is gone, and the water apparent
ly had submerged the grounds
and cottages several feet,

house.
John R. Young, of Ellis,
Young Co., Savannah and
Brunswick, says, tonight:
“Our total loss will probably
not go to $5,000. We are sav
ing nearly all the naval stores
that were swept away, and we
expect to get bacd all except

SENATOR MORGAN’S VIEW’S
United States Should Retain all

Washington, Oct, 7.—Senator
Morgan, of the Hawaiian commis
sion, arrived in Washington today
and called at the white hou°e for
an hour’s conference with the
President. In answer to inquiries
the senator said that the members
»f the committee would meet here
about Nov, 20 and prepare their
report to the President and con
gress.
The senator in speaking of the
Philippine question said tnat in
hie judgement the United Stats
should retain p isscessioon of the
whole group of islands. giving
to the natives the right to govern
themselves with certain limita
tions and under general supervi
sory control of the United States.
Senator Morgan will leave for
his hotne in Alabama.

Grand Juhy At Bridgeport Has
Indicted Nancy Guilford,
Bridgeport, Conn , Got. 7 —The
coroner has completed his inquest
?n the death of Emma Gill, whose
dismembered body was found in
the Yellow Mill pond a few weeks
ago. finding that she came to her
death by felonious homicide at
the hands of Nancy A. Guilford,
aisisted and abetted by Alfred Ox
ley and Rose Dravtou. The grand
jury has indicted Nancy Guilford
for murder in the second degree.
This facilitate her extradition
from England.
