II Bunn who is in the United
States postal service in Santiago
province, Cuba. The letter is to
Mr. Bunn’s si u ter, Mrs. J. Dallas
Turner (and should have had
an introductory so stating ) By
a perusal of this epistle the
reader will find it graphic,
breezy, descriptive and general
ly interesting, stamping Mr.
Bunn as a graceful and forceful
writer.
Funeral YEbTERPAY, —The fun
*ral over the remains of Gladys,
rhe pretty little 18 months old
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank
Willingham, occurred yesterday
and the little one was laid to sleep
in the Cave Spring cemetery. As
xta’ed in Friday’s Hustler-Com
mercial, tie baby’s spirit passed
into the beautiful beyond from the
home of the parents in Augusta.
On Friday night the bereaved par
ents arrived with the baby foim
and kept sorrowful vigil at the
home of Mrs. Willingham, the lit
re ones grandmother, who resides
oposite the Post Office. The fam
ily has the deep sympathy of the
entire community.
Sent to the Pen—The guard
arrived yesterday and carried J.
L. Shope from the Floyd coun
ty jail to the state penitentiary.
Shope was convicted at Sum
merville on a charge of forgery,
aud was sentenced to serve five
years, and for the past six weeks
has been in the Floyd county
jail for safe keeping. Shope
changed an order on the Trion
M’f’g Co., for one bale of cotton
an 1 made it secure him pay for
five bales. He will serve the
state five years to pay for those
four bales he did not raise. It
would have boen cheaper for
Shope had he increased the
acreage and added to tl e crop.
