Spven churches in Chicago are
for sale, some of them havirg been
at ene time among the most pros

an armory for cadets. A religious
newspaper is printed in another,
a dancing hall and a negro fortune
teller occupy a third, and small
sects use the others for meeting

The divinations of Hallowe’en
are still practiced by romantic
maidens, no doubt though they
would blush to admit it. One cus
tom is to put three nuts upon the
bars es the grate, naming the nuts
after the lovers. If a nut cracks
and jumps, the lover will prove
unfaithful, if it begins to blaze or
burn, he has a true regard for the
person making the trial.

portunity to compare theory with
practice when Uncle Sam shall un

of Ottawa College, hurried to Ran
