Mackin, driver. Fire-damp, follow
ing the explosion, overcame An
thony Break*, miner, and John
\alvt-ns, hit laborer.
Brunke was dsad when resen,th
found him, but the other was re
stored Io consciousness. The ex
plosion was caused by the ignition
of an unknown body of gas in a
chamber which Coulter and Met
calf were exploring previous to lo
cating a new breast. Coulter and
Metcalf may not survive.

sticks of dynami’e, weighing near
ly half pound,have arrived thro ugh
the mails on the overland train.
Ihs sticks were in separate
packages and both were addressed
to George K. Hall, Turkish consul,
Parrott building, San Francisco.
Tue postmarks were indistinct,
but it is thought the dynami e
was mailed iu Montana. Several
years ago Mr. Hal I received a snn
ilar package, but it wis opened
safely.
