Fate of a Negro (Orderer

Killed a man in Cold Blood so.
His Money.
New Madrid, Mo., Nov. 30.
News has just reached here
from an out-of-the-way spot,
across the river, known as Mad
rid bend, of the brutal murder
of J. L. Loins, a white farmer.
The tragedy occurred last Sat
urday night.
Loins had engaged two ne
groes, whose names are un
known, to row him across the
river from the Missouri side. He
indiscreetly remarked that he
had money on his person As
soon as the boat landed, one of
the negroes felled him by a blow
from a jus. They then cut his
throat and cast his body into
the river. The corpse was found
robbed of S6O and a watch.
One of the negroes was cap
tured by a pcsse of farmers last
night, and was at once shot to
pieces. The other negro is be
ing pursued. He will meet with
a similar fate if caught.

Was Shot By a Saloon Man and
Causes Trouble.
Macon, Ga., Nov. 80. —Rua or
lias been rife in the city that the
negro soldier of the 3d North Caro
lina, stationed here, intended to
break out of camp and destroy the
city and much uneasiness has been
left both citizens and soldiers.
The excitement among the negro
soldiers was caused by the shoot
ing of Pvt Will Ki mpic of Co. F,
3d North Carolina, by W S. Sim
mons, proprietor of a saloon.
Kempin is 'bought to be fatal
ly wounded. lie went 'o Simmons'
bar and called for a drink.
On beinm told that the bar was
for white peop’e he became enrag
ed and finally abused a brother
of the proprietor, who struck him
with a bottle. Kempin vtent away,
but shortly afterward returned
with four or five other negro sol
diers and started toward vouug
Simmons, callinghim a vile name.
W. S. Simmons, seeing his brother
in peril, shot Kempin in the breast.
Ths other negroes ran oft Sim
mons is in jail.
