our sanctum.

SERIOUS FIRE IN NEW YORK
One Person Burned to Death—Damage

New York, Jan 12.—Fire de
stroyed the three upper floors of
a seven-story brick building at
144-150 Franklin street last night.
The place was occupied by the j
Cook & Beinhemier Co., dealers
in and manufacturers of whiskey,
cordials, liquors, etc.
It is estimated that the loss to
the building and its contents will
amount to about SIOO,OOO. Emile
Vincent, a Frenchman, the chief
compounder of cordials in the
establishment, who was on the
sixth floor at the time the fire
broke out, became excited and
made his way toward the roof
and was burned to death.

Scroggins is authorized to sell said

court house in Floyd county, up
on the first Tuesday in any month
to the highest bidder after adver
tising the same as uow required
by law iu case of sheriff's sale, at
which sale said Scroggins, his
heirs, executors, administrators or
assigns will have the right to
purchase said property and to
make and execute to the purchaser
a deed conveying the said laud
and apply the money arising
from said eale to the costs of sale
and the indebtedness secured by
said mortgage
Now therefore said Mrs. Jai e h
Yarbrough having made default
in the payment of said note when
due I will under the power of sale
included in said mortgage sell at
public outcry at the court house
in said county between the legal
hours of sale on the first Tuesday
in February 1899 to the highest
bidder for cash the following real
estate embraced in said mortgage.
Land lot No. 308 in the 22nd
district and 3rd section of Polk
county Georgia containing 160
acres, the proceeds of such sale to
be applied as aforesaid.
The aforementioned property
was put up for sale on first Tues*
d»y in January 1899 and was bid
off by J. R. liuiiahoo for the bums

having failed to comply with his
bid, the property is n advertieed
and will be s«id at 'he expense
and risk of said J. R. Dunahoo.

estate to-wit: Sub-divided lots
Nos. 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 and
17, according to the plan and
plat of a tract of fifty-one acres
surveyed and platted by Dr. J.
W. Hicks from land lot No. 316,
in the 23d district and 3d section
of Floyd county, Ga., consisting
of 20 acres, more or less. Sold
as the property of Mrs. Jane H.
Clyne deceased. Terms of sale:
one-fourth cash, balance in one,
two, three and four years, if de
sired with interest at 8 per cent.
