Bailiff Beard took a position near the frent door while Mr Copeland went around to the back entrance to knock. Copeland “jumped” the coon in he buck yard drew a pistol hut darted around the corner of the house and made a dash for ti e front gate. The fleeing negro ran over bail iff Beard who snapped his pistol a* him a d< zen times. The negro escaped. Bailiff Beard has bought i new pistol. Floyd county is certainly coming to the front with the proper means to educate her le gions of school children.
