Atlanta Gx, Jan. 31.- ( >pe ill.'— The afterlude of the “Waycross wai’ is now’ on top. Yesterday Quartermaster General West presented a warrant for $254 from theS.F.&W. R RCo to Comp troller General Wright. The warrant was signed by Gener al” Northen as Governor, and was f. r tTe transportation of Loops ordered to the Florida frontier in our recent war. General Wright refused to touch ’ the warrant, and informed Gene al i West that he did not desire to criti cise the conduct or course of Gen eral Northen, but before he movsd in the matter he would have to consult General Terrell, the Attorney General. In the mean time the Geni 1 re porter called on the Governor Gener- ’ ul a»d asked him a few Genera’ que.— i tions about the General expenses of | modern warfare. “General’' Northen says Le acted under legal advice and that the ex penses of the ‘wayeross war” will amount to about SI,OOO and if the state dont foot the bills, that he will The report that you published last week, saying that “General” North ern had sprained his thumb while cocking one of the cannons at the head of his army is not based on facts and should be corrected. The fact is, “General” Northern uses hammerless cannons,in the artil lery department of his army and as h•, is recognized as the Head of the army he certainly would not cock a c nnon that way, I can see, however, how you made the mistake, you were deubtless thinking of the “General’’ commit ing political—say senatorial—suicide and mixed the idia with the other kinds.
