Aimstrong House, I ELOPED WITH HIS SISTER, A Remarkable Story Develops is Sax Fkaxcwco. San Francisco, Feb. 20. —The L.x aminer prints a remarkable story of a 1 brother and sister, not knowing their 1 relations to each other, elo; in (from I Stockton, The adopted father of the 'girl, Chares Lacey, a. liveryman of I Stockton, is here searching fur the e ’ping couple and is almost crazed with grief. HD story is as so lowi: In 1876 George M, Haygood, a prominent hardware merchant of Au rora, IP , ''Hine to StocktonJ with his wife and two children, Oliver and Emily, nged respectful) 3 and 1 year. •, Haygood’s wife soon died, and short ly after he left Stockton with his »on. leaving the daughter in my care. I adopted the little girl, but lost ah track of Ha) good until I received in formatioß that he had been accident ly shot and killed. The son QOliver was adopted by Milton Wendell and took his name. The boy grew, learn ed the drug business and came to Stockton, where he secured a position as clerk in a drug store. After he had been in Stockton six months I lean.ed that be was a brother of my adopted dux o uttr, who was at school at Taco ma. When she returned home, on the advice of friends I foolishly de layed telling them of their relation ship The young man called frequent ly at my house, but I had no idea that he was in love with the girl and rejoiced that they should be such good friends. Last Wednesday how ever, they left together for San Fran cisco. and I have since been told that they were madly in love wuth each • other. Despite my efforts I can find no clew as to their whereabouts, and the horible fact that neither of them can realize their fearful position al most drives me mad.
