A KLOSTER OF
BULL’S EYE SHOTS.
The snow, the snow, the beaut i
ful—girls of Romo were out in
at force yeaterday, even while
t *.-®f’ flako w*re silently falling.
But the tun th* storm was had
by those who Bought ths“coast" on
I’urnley® Hill.
*
* ♦
At. an early hour this morning,
the lovers of out door sport began
assembling en the hill side, eugar
to ‘-slide kelly, slide," and by noon
several hundreds ®f of people had
visited the »p*t to witness the gy
rations of about 50 sleds and their
crews.
♦
♦ ♦
Turnley's Hill is a famous spot for
Rome's “snow birds" and the spert
there this forenoon was immense.
Few “turnovers" and no accidents at
all, for the entire morning was the
record, many of the merry coasters
had hoped that the sun would draw
his fire from the earth and lea’® the
snow good for at least one nights's
fun, but he didn't, that is, not entire
ly an 1 yet he left enough of the beau
tiful to justify an effort tonight and
many coasters will try their runners
a* soon as the “curtains'* are pinned
back with a fetal."
Capt. John J. Seay seetnt to have
an idea that I have been casting slur*
a- him.through the Hustles of Romp
Sneh was nt>t my intention.
* *♦
I net him this morning an 1 hr
said in his usual pleasant manner:
"You are net treating me right "
Whv?, “because you are casting youi
slurs about the "Bucket-shop" which
has nothing to do with tha race.

“All the the money I spent in tluA
• bucket h >p“ was my own hard earn
ed money and I went into it just like
L would into any other speculation—
and if 1 ba I won a fortune nothing
would have been said about it either.
*
* a
Now for fear I have done Capt. Seay
an injustice, I waxt to say once for
all, that I wrote what I did purely to
reply to the Tribune's’editorial, which
invited a comparison of th® tickets,
from Ma’or down as to financial abil
ity.
♦ *
*
Personally, I am one of Capt.
Seay’s many friends and would not
intentionally do him an injustice
—at the same time lam one of
the many supporters of the John
D. Moore ticket, and when Capt.
Seay's organ, the Tribune, attacts
my ticket on “financial ability" or
otherwise, and invites cempari
sons, and those comparisons are
made odious, why who's fault is
it? •
| Anv way I merely said, in reply
