The achievement it out that

“JONAH’S FATE”
Reme Ga. Feb. 27-‘92. If ray
friend, that great and ueble min
ister, Dr, L. R Gwaltney should
run for Governor, I would vote
against him. If my former pastor,
my friends and brother, Dr. T. R.
Kendall, a man I love above all
men as a minister, should run for
Governor I would also vote against
him; because I think the highest
earthly office given of God ul o
man is to preach the Gospel, aud
when a latter day saint wants to
pop up and dodge around like Jo
nah of old, rny honest prayer to
tho Good Master is that he will
raise ouch a storm on hia political
sea that he will promptly be land

fully
Junius A George.
The above, from big hearted
generous handed, practical natured
Junius A. George,contains a whole
car load of good hard hoaa sense.
And while Rome has never had
but one Junius Geerge, she has
hundreds of practical minded citi
zens who endorsed every word he
says and are “with him“ in the
present gubernatorial campaign.
Agaiu the Hustler of Rome is
proud to say that it is a “Junius
George“ man. May his cheerful
heart never grow old.
MAKING A MESS OF IT,
“The People's Choice,” a cam
paign circular, issued, we believe
by the Central Evans Club, of At
lanta, is in danger es making a
mess of Gen. Evans’
i which it seems to have taken in
; charge.
A recent circular placed Mr. At
kinson in tho a’i ude of denying
j the right of Christians to partici
pate in politics, and it asks with
aa air of apoareut concern:
“Can Mr Atkinson seriously deem
; i‘ dangerious for good men to be
given office? We think a greater
danger lies in electing meu who
attack Christianity.”
The friends of Gen. Evans
should be consistent, A more re
cent charge against him grows out
ef’a letter purporting to have bsea
written by Mr. Atkinson to a Bap
tist minister, iu which he express
es a desire for the support of
Christian people.
The Enquirer-fun has insisted
on fair play in this campaign. We
do not think anything can be gam
ed for either of the candidates by I
naisrepreeetatieus and abuse of tlid
other.
