The Atlanta papers are mightily agitatid about Mr. Atkinson pitching into ths Atlanta ring so vigorously in his speeches. They declare that no such thing exists and that it is a frayed old ghost. We notice, however, that they are considerably worried over the matter and devote a great deal of editorial thunder and lighting to it. If it is such a base i fabrication why wouldn’t a simple denial of the matter be sufficient? Athens Banner. POLITICAL RETORTS. The Constitution warns Atkin son if he wants to be success! ul to secure th* governorship by show ing his own worth, aud not by crying out “ring.’’—Augusta Her ald. 1 Mr, Atkinson has never “cried out ring”—that cry vas started by ’ the Constitution aud taken up by its “m* too” imitator* scattered through the State. There is nothing [ike getting the bulge on things and Gen. Evans > has got the bulge on the governor ship—Courant American . The American has got a little mixed cn the governorship. Mr. Atkinson ha* the “bulge” and th* Rev. Evans the “bilge.” Sea? We venture the prediction that if Evans gets the nomination for gover nor, Atkinson will do all in his pow er io have him elected. That is the kind of a democrat Atkinaon is, and that is on« reason why he ought to win.—Chattooga News.
