The sheriff took the prison r unol served over co the other train Th°re wa? gen eral disappointment amang the crowd at the depot when the train left for Blackshear and it was dis covered that the prisoner had lef . There was subdued excitement at Blackshear when the sheriff re turned with the negro. Threats worm made against the negro if brought back and grave apprehen sions are felt for his safety to nighG The Pierce county joil is not considered safe against a mob and should an attempt be made to lynch the prisoner therw will be no hope of his escaping. Miss Sallie Williams rvas cook ing breakfas*’ th« negro came to the door and asked* for a cuo of coffee. The young lady rold him tl ere was non* prepared. Tbe ne gro’s vicious face fairly gleamed *nd he used insinuating language He caught hold of her and the young lady screamed. Hermother who was asleep, awoke and came to her assistance. The negro fled from the house to the woods near Dy Mr. Williams and bis wife raised an alarm and bloodhounds were ordered from Watertown and put on the trail of the negro. MR. The doctor stated that Mr. Wilson is gaining strength very rap pidly, and if the weather remains fa vorable he will be able to take a great deal of outdoor exercise during the next ten days Mr. Wilson will return to San Antonio Thursday and remain here until his health is completely restored. The youngest lad wag Tomv Knowles, age 14 and Ike Fellayp, 16, the name of the’tbird kid waa not known, nut wa» older than the other two. Montgomery, Ala., March 27.—At. 2 o’clock today two little children es John Hoit >n, a boy aged aix and a girl aged three, were playing in th* loft of his stable. The bey lit a match which s»t the hay in the loft fire. The screams of the children broaght some of the man in th* neighbor hood to the s.-em, and the boy, hor ribly burned, wni taken out alive, b« died in a short time. The little gir was covered up under the burn ing hay and her body could not be reached until the fire was extinguish ed, when it was taken out by the tire aten. It was burned to a crisp, YOUNG BURGLAR CAPTURED THEY WERE BETRAYED BV A CONFED FRATE PLUNDER RECOVERED Jackson, Miss., March ,27. A detachment of the city ponce, headed by ths chief and mavor succeeded in capturing three burg lars in the act of cracking the saL at the Alabama, and Vicksburg d< * pot last night. For some time past b irglars have been numerous and Joe Carter and John Youngblood, two boys ®f this city, have been suspected of being at the head of a gang. Chief of Police Ewing em ployed a news boy named Wash ingtou to get in with the gang and learn their plans. This the boy did, and last night put the polic' onto the plan to rob the dopot. A boy named Williams was also ar rested alon with Youngblood and Carter. Chief Ewing recovered $lB9 worth of cutlery which was stolen from a hardware store l«st week. The cutlery waa found wrapped up in an old rubber coat on an island in Pearl river.
