THE HUSTLER OF ROME. THIRD YEAR. 1 ffltt K sVhat the Atlanta Daily Com mercial Says of it. u A y ATLANTA TAMINY HALL” one Os the Biggest Political Cembi liatien S ever Formed Anywhere Is Being Made Herein Atlanta. Tbe following from Blackburn’s fearless Atlanta Daily Commer rial will be devoured with avidlt V by those“pure hearted politicians wh o refuse to believe that Atlanta would tolerate anything so unholy agau “Atlanta Ring.” One of the biggest political com binations every formed in local poli tics any "bere is now being made here in Atlanta. It is a combination that, if coin pleted, w'll be one of the greates political'machines that has ever ex sted in the South- The number o f officers to be elect* d this year, makes the formation of a poMiiul« mbinalion easy and since the conception of the scheme, its pro gross towaids complete organization has been very rapid. The deal that is being made is to effect a complete combination by which all the county and muncipal officers of Fulton county and Atlanta shall be controlled by one powerful ring. An Atlanta Tammany hall; That's he idea - Those at the head of th scheme ire among the shrewdest and most suc cessful politicians of the city and county, and a combination over which they have control, will be able to control the result of all city and county elections and bestow the offices on whom they desire. The idea is to effect combin a tions between men strong in the city, and who have a powerful pull with the voters, with other men similarly situated iu the county, and in this manner con trol the whole local pol itical pap . Just with whom this scheme originated is unknown, but that the work of forming the big com bination is being rapidly pushed is a fact beyond dispute. The first meeting of the Atlanta Tamany was held in a certain lawyer's office last Tuesday night. Another meeting was held on Thursday, and another on Saturday. JJ Only about a dozen or fifteen men were present, at these meetings, but they are al* powerful political wire manipulators, and the self-constituted leaders in the scheme. They are making up the bie slate, and when it is completed the candidates the combination will have to present, will combine all sorts °f political strength, and the ring will be able to bring pressure to bear up on every element in the political World. Apr 24- -The more Conservative Citizens of our town seems to be quietly watching listening and enjoy ingdhe hot debates which accur on our streets at a ct r tain p!ace known as the “Loafers benches” botween the rampant Evans men and the hot headed Atkinson crowd and so for I am unable to state positively as to .which party out stripped the other though expert things will come to a head some time in the near future —rny way Mr Editor while I think every body should be interesthe in seeing The proper man elected to fill our high officers of trust yet after having sustained the heavy loss of havind my“ best hat'* almost burned up while carrying a totch light in ord«r to help the boys'* celebrate Cleveland election, and realizing financially that I need uot look to the President Elect for a new hat sence he has gotten into office, and it did not matter then withhim about my fosses unless I had burned it before hand, have de ’ided to keep quiet and who ever gets tbe nomination, if they will guarated to sustain my Jesses while talkixg for them, why then I'll be as rampant as ever— Now while we have the subject of election under discussion please al low me a little more space to express" my opinion. There are six or seven Candidates for the next Legislature, and all from that most hoble city Rome, why cannot we, O, Romans since there is no Cataline in our town, if youfurnrah two representatives fur nish the other one from here? EBITOB HUSTLE! t It has been the custom lately for the county whose time it was to send ue Senator, to name him, and tbe other counties have come to bis BU] - port without a dissenting voice. It was a lather loose practice, I will ad mit, and we should have done as formerly, held a Senaorial Conven inn and let the three comities select the man. We do not know wnat tbe eounty of Bartow may de, but in ad vance.oi any action taken by the convention we sound the tocsin from Pine Log to Taylors Ridge, and give warning in time that no bird of doubtful feather need applv. Let the true Democrats of Bartow put themselves on guard and see that uo one is put on the ticket who is not in account with the platform of th -of his State and of the United States. The lines will bo drawn as never before and the test of loyalty to the party must be found in adhering to the declar Ltiocs of its principles take nothing for granted but know this time before you act. Men regarded heretofore as Demo crate, may now be traitors in the camps. Remember that a United States Senator is to be elected by the next Legislature, so it behooves you to know he is not one who will bar ter your dearest rights io the worst elements of the Republican party. By the way it would not be a ‘bad idea for the Senatorial aspirants to declare themselves on these points, that no traitor may sneak into tl o Democratic jfold and bear its honors only to betray its trusts. BRICK YARD MULES BURNED Along With Wagons Corn Hay and Farm Utensils at 1 o'clock this Morning. The Alarm at 11 o'clock today. The barn burner is abroad in the land. Last nigh , or rather this morning at about one o’clock, the barn of th Rome Brick Co, about three miles out, was burned to the ground and its entire contents licked up by the flames. The Brick Co. had everything else on the place covered by insur ance, but not one dollar did they have on the barn oi its contests The blaze must have been set by fi ebugS. BRANHAM S BABN. At a little after 11 o’clock t his forenoon an alarm was turned in from the “Jonah" box, No 31 and few seconds later Nos. 1. and 2. and the Trucks were flyying down Broad Street.
