C , April 24.—Watling ron, the man who sued the Raleigh and Augusta railway for $5,000 dam ages on account of being struck by a cow which had been hurled from the track by an engine, lost his case is court here this afternoon. The verdict was in fav"> r d th* railway company. SHDI IT HEWITT VINDICATED One Grand Jury Ignores the Presen t MENT OF ITS PREDECESSOR. Carrollton. Ga. April 24-(Special) The special committee appointed from the body of the grand jurv in session at the present term ot 5 he Carroll superior court, has submitied its report. Ihe report does not cor respond with that in Monday’s con stitution. The committee says that Sheriff Hewitt has accounted for all the money that be has collected. The c mmittee further says that Sheriff Hewitt has shown them all courtesies at d that hisbooks were properly kept. Ihe grand jury ignored entirely the nport of the committee appointed at the October term and refused to have it printe lin only county papers and d d not refer to it in the body of the general presentment. There were 25 penitents at the altar last night and several professions of conversion. April 25 Th* police t >dny] irrested Geo ge Hob’s a negro sneak thief, Wbo it su - pected of fireing the blacksmith shops of the Ciucinuatti Southern railroad Sunday night. Hollia very singularly offered some stolen tools for sale at the store of police commissioner Henry and there ex cited suspicion. On the same night an express car in the Southern yards was broken in'e and these tools were stolen. The theory is that the negro fired the shops to direct attention from the robbery TOM TRAINER CONVICTED. HE KILLED His DIVORCED WIFE AND HER HUSBAND. Pensacola, Fla. April 25.—The jury in the case of Thomas Train er, charged with the murder of C- S. Huff and wife, has rendered a verdict ot murder in the first de gree. Mrs. Huff was formerly the wife ot Trainer, but some time ago she obtained a divorce from him and married Huff Trainer continued to visit the house of his former wife and kept bis clothes there. He claims that he went to buff’s hiuseon the bridal evening to obtain his clothes and was or dered out by Huff. He refused to go, pulled bis pistol and shot them both dead. Atkinson spoke here yesterday to a large audience. The whiskey election contest brought a large crow-d to town and he hit a large crowd, on that account. He spoke for two hours and was accord ed a respectful bearing.
