• JONAH S ’ CIA FOR PURITY.
1
The morning Jonah is a dais;
when it conies to polit’Cs In an
editorial this morning, under the'
heading : "Lit us have fair play’’
it uses this remarkable language:
“All General Evans askH is fair
play. The only fairway to select
delegates is by primary, and the
Atkinson court house rings seem
to have a strange aversion to pri
maries.
Only a day or two ago the “Jo
nah” was abusing Mr. Atkinsons
followeis in Floyd and calling,
them “Court house rings’' and
asking the people to “smash the
ring,’’ And jet it was these same
Floyd county supporters of Mr.
Atkinson who, by virtue of num
bers “controled” on the executive
committee and voted solidly fur a
democratic primary for Floyd.
But how w’as it in Bartow where
General Evans’ friends controled?
Here are two counties right under
the noze of the “Jonah,” the action
of each giving the lie to the im
pression the “Jonah” seeks to fast
en on the minds of its readers.
The statement that: “All that
General Evans asks is fair play”
may be true but what does he con
tribute SI,OOO to a corruption
campaign fund for? And why does
he boast his pride in the outra
geous action of the Richmond
county ring. What does he think
of the Steve Elkins methods in
purchasing the Telfair vote? It
there has been any purity in this
campaign none of it. can ba charged
