A great deal has been said about the date for mass meetings of the Clark county democracy being chang ed by an Atkinson committee to ben efit the chances of Mr, Atkinson. We note the fact that the primary culled by the executive committee of De- Kalb county tor June 30th has been called in and a primary order for May 29th. We have no doubt the committee had good reasons for so doing just as was the case herein Clarke county, but wouldn’t it be well for some of the Evans p'.pers tha* have been parading the action of Choke's committee as tricky on the par: of Mr. Atkinson’s friends, to send their reporters over into DeKalb co ant y and investigate the actions of this Evans committee?,-Athens Ban ner . In the same issue of the Times, however, we notice a long aad well written editorial, kicking most vehemently at the Atlant i Evans Daily paj era, bee tl have so unjustly’ slandered Gordon county in hti'’ white c. p ’ trouble . Perhaps alter ml Gordon will vote for Mr Atkinson —a little bit. The intellig' .it correspondent of the Atlanta J urnal at Gaines ville, predicts that Hallcounly will pass resolutions endorsing the ad ministration at the pritnuiy to be held Saturday. And what ■ will the ballot boxes be? —Griffin. N e w s. “Who carried Douglass '•< u ty?” Atkinson. Why did he carry it? Because the veople of t1;,,. county have been imposed up ;> ; by the braggart, and accepted 1> ;n at the estimate he places or him self instead of at, his real wori ;i, which is Atlanta Gaz if. We are proud to say that wu have se -ii no such h '.rsh and un just. language, as the above, used by any Evans paper outside of At lanta. Such abuse might be heaped on the head of General Evans with as muth justice as it is upon Mr. Atkinson —but Atkinson pa pers are conducting the -campaign upon a higher plain. The Atlanta Gazette wdl have to l£ eat crow”— Mark that prediction. SAUCE EOR THE GOOSE IS SAUCE FOR TH I! GANDER. The “mass nae’cUng” in Doug lass county which elected Atkin son delegates w’as participated in by less than 150 voters. This is no way to s-cure on expression of the ; will of the people. A half dozen wire-workers can control a mass meeting and run it to suit them selves. The only fairway to find out what tho people want is to give them a chance to express their preference, and this can only be done by r holding primaries.— Calhoun Times. Suppose the Times pauses a mo ment in its wild indignation and casts its eagle eye on Bartow where less than 200 voters set at naught the petition of the Atkin son men, who wanted primaties, and in ma u s meetihg put through a cut and dried order of business. Douglass has only two delegates Io the Gubernatorial convention, while Bartow has four. Let the Times fight fair. BRANDED AS FALSE.
