Ketchum & Elliott that Marcus B. Earle on the
30 day of May 1893, executed and delivered to
said Ketchum & Elliott towit All my interest
in my fathers (A Earle deceased) estate, said
estate consisting of 132 acres of lot no 160. 160
acres of land lot no. (161), five acres of land lot
N». 271.80 acres of laud lot no. 245 all of said lot
lying on and being in the 20th. District
and 3rd section of Floyd county, Ga., my inter
est being described in the will of my father (A
Earle deceased) as being five hundred dollars
and one fourth (1-4) of the remaining property
tor the purpose of securing the payment of 2
promissory notes for the sum of one hundred
and eight and 62 100 dollars, made by the said
MarcuslT. Earle on the 30th day of May 1893, and
payable to the said Ketchum & Elliott due Nov
2l)th 1893 after date, with interest at the rate of
8 per cent per annumfrom maturity and ivttor
nej’s fees, which said note the said Marcus B.
Earle refuses to pay.
It is therefore ordered that the said Marcus B
Earle pay into th's court, on or before the first
day of the next term thereof, the principal and
interest due on said note, and the cost of this
suit, or in'default thereof the Court will pro
ceed as to justice shall appertain. And it is
further ordered that this rule be published in
the Hustler of Rome a newspaper published in
the county of Floyd, once a month for four
months, or serve ou the said Marcus B. E.irle er
his special agent or attorney,(three months pre
vious to the next term of this .court. March

ritory east of said road, a captains company of
able bodied white men subject to military
duty and that after said territory is cut off and
establishedduto a new district there would still
remain a captains company of able bodied
white men in Watters district, subject to mili
tary duty that are residents. And your petit
ioners further show that it is necessary and
expedient to establish such new militia dis
trict embracing said territory east of said
road, that it will be a public convenience to all
citizens in such territory, for it will make the
election precincts nearer to the voters and the
Justice of the Peace and Bailiffs. Will be more
convenient to the citizensol said new district
that it would be more convenient to give in
and pay their taxes if the new district be so
established and the precinct fixed in a central ,
part of said district. And they further petition
you name such new district Ridge Valley
if you should establish said territory into a new
militia district. Your retitioners pray said
new district to be laid ont and established in
terms of the law, and that Commissioners be
appointed in terms of the Jaw to lay out said
District, and report to your Honorable body as
is provided by law,

road that leads from Rome to Calhoun begin
ning at the Rome Dist. line on the macademized
road at Adolfus Harbor’s land and following sail I
road to the G o rd° n county line so as to include
all land now in Watters Dist., that lies east of
said road in the new district.
It is ordered that you, or a majori'y of you,
go ujion the premises and view the proposed
change as indicated above: and if you find it
necessary and exjiedient you must proceed to

and Floyd couuty lines to Bartow county line, ,
this line being tlie northern boundary of said
dist, thence along Bartow ocunty line to Eto
wan District and also along Etowah dis
trict line to Rome district line, this being
the eastern boundary line of said district
thence along Rome district line to Calhoun
road at Adolfus Harbour’s place, the above ter
ritory being the entire territ >rv heretofore ein
braced in Watters District that lies ou east
side of the Calhoun road in open court the date
aforesaid. This. June 4th, 1894.
Whereas, it appear- from the proceed! l gs of
Commissioners appointed therefore, of file in
this office, that a new Militia district with suit
able meets and bounds has been laid out in (.he
County of Floyd ; and if further appearing that
said proceedings are in due form and accord
ing to law; i is Ordered
That said Yew Militia district be known and
tstpinguished as number 1516, and that pi op
er record thereof be made iu the office of this
department.
