I was ta king to C uuty School Commissioner Bridges about it tiis morning, and learned from him that Dr. A. J. Battle, Presi dent of Shorter College had ten dered use of the College Study Hail and ihat he had, in behalf of the teachers, accepted Mr. Bridges, who was chosen by the Board of Education, to con duct the Institute says that the white teachers will assemble at the College, while the colored teachers will use the white Public School building. ♦ * * From what I can gather, the ex ercises at the Institutes are going to be most interesting, even to “outsiders” and as Mr. Bridges ex tends a cordial invitation to all who desire to attend, the school room will doubtless be crowded with spectators. So mote it be. * * * I think I voice the sentiment of the people when I express my pleasure over the prospects of the resumption ot work at the Cottou Tie Mills. Scores of lab >rers and employees will secure work and the out put will, bring thousands of dollars to Rome every month. And then, just think of those payrolls, how they will charm Goodtimes, Prosperity & Co. from their long ratirement.
