We can confide “in the integri ty of purpose on the part of the national administration that all those great principles of financial relief and civil reform clearly set forth in the Chicago platform and pivoted on reform in our system of custom house taxation should have force and effect in the laws to be enacted by congress and in the conduct of every department of government.” Such is the lan guage of a vote of confidence, re cently given by a county demo cratic meeting, that every demo crat may cast. Under our fidelity to our prin ciples, our patriotic devotion to our country, and our party unity depend the success of our national party. I am looking over a field of grow" ing corn, and as the heat rises from mother earth aud as it rip ples ascend higher and higher me think I hear the poping of the newly made joints of corn. Looking in another direction I 'ey the smoke rising from an en gine and hear the familiar hum of a threshing machine ;I see the men busy in their respective places about the machine, the wagon moving the wheat towards tte farmyard ;and when looking in an other direction I s«e the plowman pushing bin mule onward stiring the soil before the young grass gels a headway in the cotton. This we®k has indeed been a busy one with us- Since the delightful rains of last Sunday and Monday our farmeis have been greatly encouraged, and today, I have no doubt but that there are no people in the grand old Empire State whose content mentor happiness is greater than o urs. Well the Hustler or R®me does not pre. end to be a religious daily, but it does try, in its own wav, to make its self a welcome guest at every hearthstone in Koine —and it leaves these Chattanooga Times stories for its competitors to handle —and .it seems that they do it. • * < * President Henry Harvey, of the Rome Cotton Factory, tells me that bis plant is running on full time and that he has orders enough ahead to keep the Mills humming all summer. The Rome .Cotton Factory is one of the best in the South and under the ab e management es Henry Havey will continue in the \an of Southeru progress and piosperity. * * * I dropped ir.to Rhudy’s yesterday and was much surprised to see the change wrought in the appear ance of the store in such a short time Mr Rhudy moved a big slice of his stock to Atlanta to his big branch Louse on the first--but since then large shipments of new goods have arrived and Messers Sell Richards and Wink Lansdell have put the place in business shape—See for your self. * * * Ne t Alarm was turned in on Friday, All the same, Mr. meatery burned down, over in the Fourth ard.
