On Monday night when the thunder storm was raging he says he was sleeping sweetly by the side of an open window, when all of a sudden he was skeerd out of a ■ whole Saturday's trade by being shot through and through and all over by cannon balls of greased puttv. M hen ’ he recovered his equanimity and had ! collected the rent in the bosom of his night robe he found that the report 1 of the cannon was only a crash of ' thunder and the lump of putty was ’ the little “black and tan” that had - made a wild leap and dived through 1 the open window and the web of his 1 dream.
