Will Have a “Walk over” for
the Nomination.
COULDN’T STEM THE TIDE.
So Democratic Bill Everett, in a
Rattling Good card. Withdraws
From the Contest. Democra
cy Uniting tor Buttle and Victory.
In the following democratic
card. -Hen. R. W. Everett, the
only opponent that Cjngressmau
Maddox had for the Seventh Dis
trict nomination, withdraws from
the contest:
col. everett’s withdrawal.
Cedartown, Ga., July 10, 1894 —
To the Democrats of the 7th, Con
gressional District: —Believing
that a heated campaign would
tend to widen the breach now ex
isting in the party, and create dis
seusions that might prove detri
mental to that unity and perfect
concert of action so essential to
party success, in the interest oi
peace and harmony I hereby an
nounce my withdrawal from the
race for Representative in the 54 s h
Congress,
I desiie to express my sincere
thanks to the many friends who
have so warmly espoused my can
didacy, and to assure them that
their many acts of kindness and
pledges of support will ever be
held in grateful remembrance.
R. W. Everett.
The above card will naturally, and
should win praise and commendation
from the rank and file of Seventh dis
trict democrats. Colonel Everett has
canvassed the district pretty thor
oughly, and has many friends in ev.
ery section of It; but Col. Everett is
level headed and is a democrat. He
saw that *'the people” were over
whelmingly for John W. Maddux and
—He cornea out of the race like a
good democratic aspirant would do.
Col. Everett’s friends and admirers
say that: “if bis services are needed
in the present campaign, they will bo
at democracy’s command —he is built
that way.”
lu the meantime —a byrds eye view
of the situation, so far as the Floyd
county feature of the campaign is
concerned, amounts to about this
Hon. Seaborn Wright seems to be
manoeuvreing to secure the control
of the daily and weekly eny press,
(excepting the Hustler or Rome ‘‘of
course,”)and with it hopes to drive
the third partyites into supporting his
candidacy as an independent—not ev
e n endorsed by the populists.

I am informed that a certain
popular young Broad St. Druggist
‘‘bought him a pup’’ and named
theKanine “Pills”. Pills lolled in
the lap of luxury for days, until
he became almost sugar-coated ;
and then a strange nigger “took

cirtnamon bark and wearing a dog

JPING MASTERS ALONG THE COAST.
St. Simon Isiand Ga, July 14—
ycur correspondent has been some
what dilatory about sending the
customary message from the sea
shore; an ample apology is under
stood when one contemplates that
the crowding of er j >ymeuts in our
brief stay renders all attempts at

Our party after a night of sereui

divided as to the two resorts, but
after a calm cousiderati on of the
advantage and accomodation of St
Simon, the larger faction boarded
the steamer bound .for |that ter

The Hotel St. Simon is a marvel
of excellence, Manager Dunn is the
soul of courtesy, the cuisine is un
surpassed aud altogether it is the
finest resort upon Georgias sea
coast.
St. Simon has ifour boats per
day and a natural consequence is
that one can secure transportation
at almost any hour. The Hotel is
situated within fifty feet of the
ocean and a dip in rolling billows
always available, our party captur
ed a three hundred pound turtle
aud are proud over the achieve
ment.
Ed Colclough is a discoverer.
He has encountered a one eyed
tiger in Ja Bacchonation jungle.
He claims he looked him straight
in the face and trimbled not.
Joe Owens has been importuned
to serve in the capacity of speaker
for the Brunswick piolots by rea
sons of his stentorian tones.
When the elements are at battle
magic of his voice lulls them into
an uu iL-trurled peace.
A musicale was given last night at
the hotel. Signor Raudeggor, the
coming malstro was the all important
of the evening.
A large percentage of Brunswicl -
ians own summer homes here;
cottages to the amount of 150 near
the pier represent the Way cross
Colony. King City is also being
rapidly a place of habitance and life.
The specie of the summer girl is
abundant here. No finer picture
could artist desire than as she hurries
timidly by the lookers on toward the
surf. Come to St. Simon. More
anon.

Mr, Dick Treadaway, the King

were cooked to a turn aud in less
than twe hours from the time he
began cutting, the entire lot was

on the Government building site

Early to-morrow you can get at
the Dress Goods after a fashion that
is novel and more ordinary. The
idea is based on the hope of selling
five thousand yards as Dress Goods
in a single day, and the posibility of
outdoing any output that ever oc
cured in this country.
Blazing beacons beckon to you
from the second floor. The Carpet
Room is in the throes of agony. The
work was quick and direful. New
pencihngs have given especially at
tractive tints to tags—low price—
cost price—less than cost price tints
are on them. The din and tumult of
re-arranging and re adjusting this
department to accommodate the
heedless, rushing multitudes, has
been progressing for days.
