And do You Really Think of
Getting on Scab's Platform?
HERE ARE THE FIGGERS
And They Point that way. The Tri
buue may JMove Lit® one ot Mr.
Wrights Dwellings. Mr, Bill Dona
hoo said Io Have Quit thei Feld,
“Who will the Populists support
for congress,” is a question often
asked but seldom answered.
Every body knows, or at least
every body has heard it rumored,
that Mr. McGarrity wants to run
and many of the populists have
been heard to say that they will
support him.
Again everybody knows, or has
heard it rumored, that Hon. Sea
born Wright wants to make the
race “mighty bad” provided hecan
get the third party to not nomi
nate a man and to not even en
dorse him in party meeting but to
work for him and vote for him
“early and often.”
Now these be populists who
know Mr. Wright—and they say
they will never do it that May,
that they are more bound to.pop
ulist principles they are to
men—especially politician men
like Scab Wright.
These matters are being agitated
and discussed among populists of
Floyd—in season amt out. Only a
few davs ago, so the Hustler of ■
Rome is reliably informed, quite a;
gathering of the leaders was hud, and
] during the discussions of party mut
ters, this congressional subject came
up and the tone of the discussion was
indexed by these figures indicating
county majority:
MADDOX M< GARRITY
Walker 400 I Polkloo .
Chattooga 600 I’anldiningsoo
Floyd,.looo' Whitfield3oo
Battow 30C I Haralson 150
Catoosa 300 Cobb 200
Dade 400 | Gordon 150
Total 3,600 1,5 50
Maddox majority 1450—whicli
makes McGarrity over 5000 votes
stronger than John Sibley was two
years ago.
The other table is the straw which
shows which way the ; Floyd pep.s
have taken the wind— and how they
want it to blow—in other words they
are sorry they did not quit their owa
plntfrom two years ago and get over
onto Scab’s when he issuod them
such a cordial invitation. Here are
the figures by county majoiities as
they figgured them:
Maddox wright
Catoesa 300 Bartowsoo
Chattooga .. 500 Gordonsoo
Cobb 200 Haralsonloo
Dade 400 Murray 500
Walker 350 Pauldingsoo
Whittled3oo
I Polk 3(0
To al 1,760 2,700
Giving Seab 950 majority, or
nearly 7,000 more votes than Mr.
Sibley, in the good year of 1892,
leaving Floyd the Banner county
as a stand off. These figg«rs are
powerful interesting to those who
know that the third party is weak
er today than it was two years ago’
As to he Legislative race in Floyd,
the pops have no chance under the
sun and only yesterday a relative
and near neighbor of Mr. W. G.
Donnahoo was in the city and stat
ed positively that Mr. Donnahoo
had come out of the race.
Another gentleman informs us
that Mr. Toni Hampton, another
nominee, will not cany his home
district.
As to Major Zachius Hargrov
—why Zuehs 30 year recc rd with the
Republican party is agin him and if
be hopes to catch the negro vote by
having the pops, put a negro on the
nominating committee why he is out
of it, for the brother in black rentiem.
