Mr, Frank Cohen, an old Rome boy, but now one of Atlanta’s bright business men, is in the city. Miss Clelie McWilliam has re turned from the “Encampment City where she has for a short while. Mrs, Henry Deal has returned to her home iu this city after a pleasant visit to her fathers fami ly at Cedartown. Mr. Will Barker, of W. A. Steel will leave in a few days for the markets of the North and East. Easter, of the famous seaport town of Kalamozoo. Miss Salliy Knight, after a pleas ant visit to Mrs. J. G. Watters and Mrs. Biney’Mooney, has returned to her home in the Gate City. Miss Knight won many friends while in Rome. Stillwell has return* ed from Hot Springs, Ark,, and is confined to his bed at his home in Gordon county, to the regret of his host of friends. Miss Mary Littell, who has been visiting relatives in Georgia for several months, returns to‘her home at Elkton, Va., this week. Miss Maggie Jones, of this coun ty, spent yesterday in the city, visiting friends. Mr. H. M. Mcßae, of Rockmart, is autographed at the Central Ho. tel today. Mr. Paul Hardin is so far recov ered that the ropes stretched across Fifth Avenue, near the Second Baptist Church have been removed and that popular thoroughfare is again open to traffic. Paul’s re covery is little short of miraculous. Mr. Felix Cantrell, of the well’ known and justly popular slice house of Cantrell <fc Owens, leaves for Boston and the shoe centers of the East, on Thursday the 23rd. Emory Ford is a born .musician and lam confident that his or chestra for the seasons of 1894 and 1895 will be “N x 1 ”in every respect. * * * The Augusta Herald notices that: ‘‘Rome has already claimed the prize for the prettiest girl in Georgia to be awarded at the At lanta Exposition, Rome is up to snuff.'’ Yes Rome is, but that same “prettiest girl” never “dips” —except at St. Simons or on the Oostanaula * * * Big hearted John Vandiver bought a load of 50 big water mel ons yesterday and sent to the prisoners of the county jaiL Dep uty Sheriff McConnell says it wee a picnic to watch the inmates feast on the lucious fruit of the vine Many of the 27 inmates hao not tasted water melon thie'season.
