Application for Guardianship GEORGIA, Floyd County : To all whom it may concern: Hamilton Yan cy having applied for Guardianship of the tier son and preparty of Frank Holland, minor chib 1 of Sarah Baiulle, late of aaid County, deceased, notice is given that said m.plicntion will be heard at mv office, at 10 o’clock A. M., on th«( first Monday in September <.ext. This August' sth. IStH. John P-Davis, •-8-30 d. Oi iuary and ex afficio O. KLOSTER OF BULLS EYE SHOT. Mr. Alex Rickets, one of the renters on the big Russ farm, was in the city yesterday, and says that no one in that neck/if the timber lives, who has ever seen finer crop B on the Coosa river. He says that the most conservative figure ■he can put on the crop of 800 acres of cotton is a yield of 190 bales, while he is certain that the 825 acres of corn will yield an average of 32 bushels of corn to the acre, or a total of 10,400 bushels. Gee Whiz, what a corn crop! Why that would be enough corn to make 81,200 gallons of corn liquor, and counting 10 drunks to the gallon we would have 312,000 drunks, and that at $3 a drunk, which is Recorder Spullock’s min imum, we would have a Fall of Ninevah that would yield the city $93(5,000.00, or enough to finish the new water works, pay for the Hook and Ladder truck, fill the lower end jof Broad Street and some left to help “dam |the Eto wah.” * * • And then the pumpkins in Char ley Bass’ pumpkin orchard—Some lay lam going to take a day off and describe that pumpkin orchard and the pea. vines and goober patch 's. Charley Bass is a born mer chant but that’s no reason why he should not be one of the best farm ers in these diggins—for he is. O O O Dr. Yeiser showed me a letter this morning which he had just re" ceived from a lady of Anderson, S. C., in which she was thanking him most sincerely for the immediate relief she had derived upon using a jottie of his fast becoming famous Skin cure. I know of a number of people, who like Mrs. George, of Anderson, believe that the Yeiser Skin Cure has no equal on earth. o o o Capt. W. H. Steele will leave to" morrow for Washington, D. C., Baltimore, Philadelphia,New York and Trenton. While away he will purchase an immense line of bar gains, and when he returns with them he will treat his customers to a feast in fine wares at small cost. As a successor to Garvey & Harper he will well sustain the reputation that firm enjoyed for fair dealings and progressive busi ness. o o o If "pegging” away will win at “last,” my friend Hart, the veter an shoe man of the Masonic Tem ple store, is bound to get there. Mr. Hart, does such execlent work ibat his patrons become steady customers and turn with their shoe repairing unro bins as does the needle to the pole. It'you need a hand made shoe just call, leave vour measure and tell him what vou want aud when you want it’ He will do the rest. * * * Hou, Efva Price, the veteran dyed in the Wool democrat oi Wat ters district was in to see me to day. Brother Price is as full of -tuthusiasm as the average calami ty howlnr is of gioom. He tells me that after traveling through sever al North Geoigia counties he is in shape to report that the people are nut being led oil' by Wataon ism, but that they are hopeful of the future and are rejoicing over the prospects of the finest crops they have ever known and will participate in the battle of the bal lot which will give W. Y. Atkin sou the biggest majority known to i he history of Georgia. o o o Dr. C. A. Trnvitt, proprietor of I’reyitt’e Drug Store and partner in the popular drug firm of Trevitt & Johasoi, will leave tomorrow morning for Washington, D. C. wheiW he will participate in the na tional gathering of the Knights of Pythias. 000 Afterward he will visit Balti more, Philadelphia and New York, where he will select a handsome line of holiday and other goods for the two Rome stores. Dr. Trevitt begau business in this city many years ago, and began at the bottom of the l»tid«tr too. He-is a climber however, and’deserves credit for the way ho has wrung success from meagre < pportunity, and is to tie congratulated on his bright busi uess prospects. .o o o I a k d Jake Kuttuer th is mon . ing how much ot New York Ike May was going to buy this trip, His prompt replywas; “He will begin on this side and buy right through to the other river.” And then I thought—“ Dam the Eto wah .” o o o And now the Chattanooga Times has named Houston Harper, the popular young city editor of the Chattanooga News, {, tbe Ward McAlister of Tennessee.” o o o Mr. W. T McWitfiims is verv much improved today. He has a good appetite and relisfles his food. His family now think the crisis is past and that he has a new lease on life. The report that he has become almost asseletou is not based on fact, said h's brother, Mayor O. H. McWilliams this morning, "he is fully as heavy as I am" and that means that the sick man is yet a most decided heavy weight. , —. W1 i September 3rd we will movea- srteet to the Medical Building next door to Crouch & Co Drug store. , Advice ■ To 3 O' f f Mk r ; Russell Sage The great financier, gives the follow ing good advice to boys, which parents might also read with profit: “ Boys, go to school as long as you can, and remember every hour spent in study in youryouth will be worth money to you in after life. Read good books: make yourself acquainted with history: study the progress of nations and the careers of men who have made nations great. “ Study religion, science, statecraft and history. Learn to read intelligently, so that you can turn to practical use In after life the reading of your youth. Be sure you begin right. Do not waste time in reading trashy books.” Mr. Sage further says: “ The boy who is wanted in the business world of today must be educated. If his parents cannot afford to give him a college or a high school eduucation he must learn to study without the aid of a teacher, In the early mornings before business begins, and In the evenings after business hours. It can no longer be truthfully said that an education is out of any one’s reach.” This is the advice of a man who Is one of the most conspicuous business successes of our time, and who has amassed one of the largest fortunes in America. It cannot possibly be charged that he is in the pay of THE ATLANTA CONSTJTUTJON, and yet these words given as the conviction of a life of unusual observation and experience advises as strongly as word? can that you hasten to accept the offer of The Constitution, and secure this greatest of popular educators, The Encyclopaedia Britannica.
