Mr. Charlie Seay, who for a while contemplated putting on “Caste” at Nevin’s Opera house, has give up the idea of doing so, after due c insideration. But he has a new and splendid play called “The Milk Maids Con vention,” and will commence re hearsals at an early date. It will have in it some of the best amatuer talent of this city, and will be sure to be a catchey thing. He will play it about the mid dle of October, and will try a new departure in amatuer theatricals. They will give a matinee, as well as a night performance. IT S THE OLD GUARD NOW Fenians and Irish Invincibles Form a new Revolutionary Society. Dublin, Sept. 25.—The group of old Fenians and old vincibles have taken advantage of the discontent caused by the delay in acting upon the home rule question and have formed a new society, culled the Old Guard, They have issued a circular call ing on Irishmen everywhere to en roll themselves in a united brother hood to resist attempts to lower the Irish flag or to stay the onward march of freedom. Not one of the prominent mem bers of the Irish party signed this appeal. TO BREAK RECORDS Alix Will go Against her own Matchless Time. Chicago, Sept. 25.—Monroe Salisbury will take charge of the race meeting at Columbus, 0., next Thursday. Alix will start to beat her own record of 2:03 1-4 Directly will endeavor to beat his record of 2:07 1-2, and Flying Jib will be started to beat his re cord of 2:04. Mr. Salisbury is also going to attempt to secure a dou ble team record with Azote and re cord, grandsons of Electioneer. ACorrection. Manager Jones, of the Singer Sewing Machine Company requests The Hustler of Rome to correct the story in regard to Smith, the man brought to Rome by Mr. Raymond McConnell on charges of cheating his company. Mr. Jones said that Smith did not run away, and that when he left he told him (Jones) good bye. Mr. Jones states further That he knew where Smith was all the time and corresponded with him. Dr.J/ ?
