Va., Oct, 3. — Elsworth Hupp, w ho lives with his family several miles out of town, quarrelled with his wife Sunday night and left the house. Hupp’s wife concluded to look him up after a short time and found him hanging in£thebarn by the neck. The woman cut him down and succeeded in reviving him, which so aggravated the would oe suicide that he took the rope with which he had bung himself and gave her a fearful heating. Fashion Notes. Satin ribbon braces over an ac cordion pleated chiffon waist is very effective. For traveling hats soft felt, trimmed with velvet and cock's plumes. Bluet is said to be becoming to even the darkest brunette. A waist of stem-green satin worn with a black surah, accordion pleated skirt, makes the prettiest house costume we have seen. Gray and geraneum-red satins are worn by English bridesmaids. A pair of blackbirds poise on the extreme front of many of the au tumn hats. Double-breasted, tight fitting coats, with strap seams and broad revers and hip pockets are in favor with the woman’s tailor. To have a cash pocket added to vour coat and nonchantly pick your car fare therefrom places you among the advanced. You may be certain of one thing: You will see the tailor-made girl during the coming season as you have never seen her before. For evening wear the stocking and slippers match the gown. Gowns are being copied outright from old portraits of famous bear - ties. The scarf corsage swathing for slender beauties is most effective. Poppies for the hair are tJie la test noted. Neck boas will be as fashionable as ever. The new capes lie fiat on the shoulder; the voluminousness will be caused by the big sleeves of the dress. Diagonal wools are in favor for autumn gowns. As many as three bodices are made for one simple black skirt. For carriage wear, white lace veils are thrown over the hat and face. Black velvet will be much worn this winter; Hats, caps, muffs and hoods will be made of this delight ful fabric, and it goes without saying that the blacks will lead. I asked him how long he had been carrying it. “I have had this one about six months,” he replied, “but it is getting worn. I shall have to get another. This one 1 got in Evans ville, Ind., and I shall have to commence looking around for an other. They cost a good deal, for I have to have a good subject, and a girl is so much lighter; and then” he added, “They take with the rrade better than a man would.” “That was a year ago,” contin ued the traveling man, and I have not seen the old man since. When he got through with a body he said he always had it buried, and in some cases had it returned to the same grave from which it had been taken. It was certainly the most grewsome traveling kit that I ever ran across. —Indianapolis Sentinel.
