If there is any one thing my heart is set on, in this life, it is the suc cess of the Hustler of Rome—but then every body who knows any thing about the paper and my humble self, knows that much al ready. **** By actual count, for months, I have averaged eighteen hours per day in hard work “work as is work,” but with the Hustler of Rome ever “on the rise” I have seldom felt like hanging my “take ’’ back on the “hook.” *** Fancy then, if you can, how much good the following letter, coming unsolicited from one of God’s noblest and most motherly. Christain hearted women, a go, d woman whom I have long known by reputation only, but whom ev ery one who knows loves and hon ors—l say fancy how much I en joyed this unexpected letter: *** Editor Hustler of Rome: Occasionally I see a copy of your paper, and al ways read it with interest I think it is a paper which deserves the support of good and intelligent people, for its high moral tone and variety of interesting and instruc tive reading. I want to become a regular subscriber, and send my name for this purpose. Mrs. C. C. McKenzie. No. 114, Maple st, East Rome. * * * And then in the same mail this one, no less appreciated, because ] know the noble-hearted woman who indicted it; a golden-hearted woman who has given her life to education: * * * East Rome OcL 25 1891. Capt. Byid: I send with this a list of subscribers to the Hustler and hope soon to send you more names, I like your paper so much that I advise all my friends aud acquaintances to take it I like it for what it is, aud for what it is not. It is as it claims a “Ptop'e’s paper” and contains nothing that corrupt the morals of the people. It contains a great deal of infor mation and is educating, as well a; entertaining. Mrs L . D. A. Felton. *•* I f rust these good women will pardon me for using their letter in this column, for in spying kind thing about my paper, they put me under obligations—and—well the truth of it is, those letters are not "too good to keep” but they are too good to keep, to myself. o o o Are you registered? If you are not why the time has come for you to hustle around and see Tax Col lector John J. B'ack and get your name on the list so that you can cast a ballot for John W. Maddox the tried and true Congressman from the “Bloody Seventh” *** The registration book close on Saturday and every day you linger places your ballot that much more in danger—of not materializing as a ballot. Get a move on you and see Mr. B>ack. - * * ♦ I understand that John Black will have opposition for re-elec tion. Funnyaintit? But let me make a prediction : The man who opposes J. J. Black for tax collect or will get it where Mary Jane wears her beads. lam for John Black same as lam or J. P. Mc- Connel and Will Bcjeiegle and I dont believe the people will ever turn any of them down until their superiors are found—and that wont be soon.
