New York, October 26. —At its late session the legislature of Louisiana made an appropriation for the purpose of making the po sitions held by ‘the troops from that state during the terrible three days’ battle at Gettysburg. Five veteran confederate soldiers have been selected from the Army of Northern Virginis, and com manded by Governor Foster, of Louisana, to visit the battlefield and co-operate with the official federal Gettysburg field hi its purpose of making history. A cordial invitation has been extended by Col. John B. Bacheld er, of the war department, for the Louisiana committee to meet him at Gettysburg early in November for consultation and the location of ■ positions of the confederate troop, in the course of historic ac tion. Col. Bachelder not only approves the action of the governor of Louisi ana, but is anxious that delegations of veteran soldiers be sent from all the southern states for an accu rately photographing on the grounds the movement of Lee’s army when the fate of the confed eracy was virtually decided. Pursuing the Cook Gang. Muscogee, LT. October 26 Cook gang is headed for the moun tains in the western part of the nation with the Indian police, In dian sheriff's and United States marshals in close pursuit. , As heavy rewards are offered for ibe leaders of the gang, dead or alive, it is believed that they will be captured soon.
