Everybody in Rome knows that
Jake is an applicant for the posi
tion of Principal Keeper of the
State Penitentiary and about
every body in Rome, or out ot it,
1 hopes that he will win.

I was present wbeu a delegation
; of Jake Moore’s friends called on
Governor Atkinson, at 5 o'clock
yesterday afternoon, and know
1 ihat twenty-six vounties had prom
' inent oitizena in that delegation—
and with but few exception these
. men were not legislators either.
I .. ***
I noticed another thing,too,when
.Judge Joel Branham opened the
remarks he banded Governor At
kinson a package at the same
time saying. “Your Excellency
will find strong endorsements in
this package, from prominent men
who know Jake Moore and believe
him to be eminently qualified for
ths position of principal keeper of
ths Penitentiry. ’’
Dozens as other delegates added
words of highest praise to Judge
Branham’s encomiums—and —well
Jake is going to get there —“Mark
that prediction.” The annoi n e
ineute will not be made for perhaps
10 days.
