MRS FELTON IS TOO
Wants Cobb, and Floyd Coun
ties Both Thrown out. Mr.
Fite writes a Salty Little
Card about “Them
Twain."
Mrs. W. II- Felton was in the
city yesterday. She confitmß the
report that Dr. Felton will contest
the election of Judge Maddox from
the seventh congressional district.
Mrs. Felton’s eyes Hashed aa she
spoke of the incident in which Mr.
Fit | igured several days ago, s j -
ing that he w ai liable to prosecu
tion fcr libel.
“There weuld have been a land
slide in Dr. Felton’s favor in Bar
tow county but for the tactics pc • 1
sued by the managers at the polls,”
said Mrs. Felton.
I have in my pocket a list of reg
istered votes of Bartow county
with black marks struck through a
number of Felton voters These
met had paid their taxes, had re
ceipts from the tax collector and
been at cue time included in the
list but were subsequently struck
off.
Scores of men went to the polls
and’produced their tax receipts,
but notw ithstauding this,they were
not allowed to vote. Here is one
man, Mr. W. C, Edwards, whose
name was incorrectly printed ■Ed
monds’ on the list, and although
Mr. Edwards is one the best known
citizens of Cartersville, having
been a merchant there for years,
he was nut allowed to vote because
of this error in registration list. If
there had been a fair election iu
Bartow couty,Dr. Felton’s majo ri

A democratic leader said the
other day that they would shout
hallelujah in Cobb county if the
democrats carried it by 200. In
stead of that, the face of the re
turns shows a majority of 500 for
Maddox. In spite of the fact that
a formal request was made for the
registration list in Cobb before the
state election, the matter was post
poned until the 14th of November,
when the list will be of no earthly
value in th is election.
With Cobb county thrown out
and the two precincts of Bartow'
and the Rome districts thrown out
because of illegality, the result
w ould be changed. As it is, the face
of the returns only f hows a small
majority for Maddox. The elec
tion yesterday was the most cor
rupt in the history of Georgia pol
itics.
And, when it is submitted to a
fair congress, we feel confident
that this great wrong will be right
ed. Why, look at the vote in Rich
mond county. Does any sane man
think for a moment that the enor
mous vote shown on the returns is
a fair and legal one? You may rest
assured that the whole thing will
be ventillated.”
FROM MR FITE.
Cartersville, Ga., November 7. —
Editor Constitution : My first im
pulse was to reply to the infamous
personal attack recently made on
me by W. H. Felton, and his wife
iu the way and manner which they
so richly deserve, but old age on
his part and the fact that she is a
wiman, if nothing else, prevent it.
Besides I cannot afford to get
down and wallow in the dirt with
them. I have heretofore given the
facts to the public, the good peo
ple here have rebuked the slander
ers, I now leave them to hiss,
bite and sting themselves to death,
which they have already well nigh
done. Very Respectfully,
A. W. FITE.
