Paulding, Ohio, November 7. — Excitement still runs high over the murder of the Good childien, and Sheriff Staley has taken Hart to Van Wert for safety. There is no doubt that if our citizens were sure that Hart is the man who com tint ed the awful deed he would be lynched if possible to get hold of him. A trained bloodhound was put on the trail of the assassin last night, but nothing has developed yet. Mrs. Good has not seen her mur dered children, nor has she been informed of their death, but is living with the belief that they will be returned to her sound and wel 1. The theory that the children were murdered with a corn-cutter is pronounced as unlikely by Coro ner Slager, and Sheriff Staley is of the opinion that a large knife was the instrument used in the double murder. It is learned today that two tramps were seen in the vicinity on Sunday morning, and that they were very tough-looking individu als. Several claim to have seen them. The sad affair has cast a gloom over our city, and the election has lost the interest it had before the awful discovery. Later.—Parties have just re turned from the home of Hart, which they searched, and, on tak ing up the floor, which was made of rough boards and double, clots of blood were found, which is al most positive preof that Hart is the man, and that the crime was committed in the house and the children then taken to the woods and placed on the brush heap amt fire applied. If Hart was here at present it would be a ca«e as hemp at once. NOTICE OF LOCAL LEGISLA gr- TION. Was He Murdered? Shelbyville, Ind., Nov. 7. — There is considerable excitement in the Mt. Auburn neighborhood, this.county, caused by the sudden disappearance of Aaron Collins, a highly respected and well-known resident. On last Wednesday afternoon Mr. Collins left his home and starting for Edinburg on a business trip. He made several purchases in Edinburg, leaving the articles at C. C. Winterberg’s until he call ed for them. He next paid O. M. Mitchell S4O on a furniture account, since which time he has been missing. Yesterday his brother Cornelius came to this city in search of Aaron. Cornelius states that his brother had, when leaving home, a check for S7OO on one of the banks in this city, besides SIBO in mon ey- Upon inquiry at the banks here the check had not been presented. His disappearance has caused con siderable excitement at his home. He has a wife and four children, and they were living peaceably to gether. The general belief is that Mr. Collins has met with foul play at the hands of some one who knew he had the S7OO check with him. ■ A LIVING MERMAID. | An Alabama Girl who is Half Fish Half Human. Florence, Ala., Novembers.—ln the Swiss colony, near St. Floren, Ala., about seven miles from here, can be seen a beautiful young girl wheeled around in a perambulator, the lower portion of which is cov ered. She has never oeen seen out- this buggy except by Ik r own parents, although she has en joyed perfect health duri .g the 16 years* of her life.. She is unu sually bright and intellig-nt, and from her carriage thoroughly en joys the society of young people of . her age. The reason that the girl is doom ed to her days in the con fines of her buggy is that she is a realistic mermaid. Before her b.rth her mother was badly fright ened by a shark while crossing the Atlantic Ocean, and the lower part of the child’s body is that of a fish. Her father, jAntcn Zimri, is a highly successful grape grower, and has become well off, as wealth is counted in this section, but no surgical treatment has yot been found that can devise a means for correcting the deformity of his daughter. She has none of th chaiactenstics of a fish, and has no more fondness for water than is usually posessed by girls of her age. Shot His assailant.
