THE AGED FLOPPER Hopes thata Republicon Hous Will Seat him His Son, Dr. Howard Felton in this City “on Business,"' he says. Much talk was excited in the city yesterday by the statement that Dr. Felton would contest the election in this district. Judge Maddox was seen this morning and said that he had lit tle fear of the result. He said that he could prove his election by near 2,000, and that though the house would be overwhelningly republi can, it would not unseat him where the evidence of his fair elec tion was so plain. Dr. Howard Felton, the son of Dr. Wiliam Felton is in the city. He said this morning: ‘I have evidence enought in my pockets now of fraudlent results to insure my father getting the place. We will prove that the whole of Cobb county was “fixed.” Then the city of Cartersville, Rome dis trict and several others in Floyd. Altogether I have evidence of fraud in over 20 districts of the Seventh congressional district. There is no doubt in mind but that my fa ther will be seated.” Many are inclined’ to think that the republicans will seat Dr. Fel ton just out of pure cussedness, evidence of Fraud or not. But the general opinion is that it will amount to nothing. PALACE MARKET Os the upper end of town. Threa Populist Congressman Seem to have been Elected And the Pop Candidate for Governor Claim ing this State. Dallas, Tex., November 8. —The judges are still counting the bal lots, Major Kirby, populist, for c digress, so far as returns are in from Dallas County, leads Abbott, democrat, by about 600. If Kirby counts out as strongly in the city as his friends expect he will, the race in the sixth district will be a decidedly close one. Dispatches today assure the elec tion of Gilliland, populist, over Bell, democrat, iu the thirteenth district. WHERE IS THE STATE TICKET? Even the rock-ribbed democratic state of Texas has parted from the faith, and partially gone over to the enemy. The democrats cer tainly lost two and possibly four congressmen • Nugent, populist, for governor, is running like a scared hound. The populists here are actually claim ing his election. While many leading democratsare dunbfounded at th* cyclone which has well night swep tthe party'out of existence, others are not at all astonished. They say that Cleveland and con gress have utterly failed to cany out the wiehes of the people, and have betrayed every trust and all confidence put in them. There is loud talk of forming a new national party with a new name upon the best planks of the democratic- poplist and old line whig platforms. CERTAINLY 3 CONGRESSMEN GONE. Galveston. Abilene, Tex., November th — Texas, too, was caught in the lide, not of republicans, but of populists instead of republicans. The time-worn plurality of 180,- 00 for democracy is s thing of the past. Today's returns very mate rially change the situation from that of yesterday, when the demo crats were conffndentof a plurali ty of 80,000, while tonight they will lie satisfied if barely ahead. Every returu throughout the state today shows phenomenal populis gams, and many possibly indicate the election of Nugent, the popu lists* nomiee for governor, The state is tonight claimed by both parties. The populists claim a plurality of 80,000 for Nugent, while the democrats only claim the state for Culberson by 30,000. The democratic strongho'ds have been heard from, while the popu lists are yet to recieve returns from the country districts. When you want to buy harness and strap work and buy them cheap and strong. While determined, even to des peration. the moo was calm and orderly in its movements. No ef forts were made to conceal the dentity of the parties engaging therein. The prisoner was taken from the courthouse in the very presence of the judge. HANGING FROM A TREE. Each side Claim the day but “Fashion" will make it Republican. “See?" Nahsville, Tenn., November 9. Official and unofficial returnshave now been received from seventy five of the ninety-six counties in theTenness e and these give H. Clay Evans, the republican candi date tor governor, a plurality over Peter Turney, democrat, of 7,608. The republican gain is steady but no accurate estimate can be made of the remaining counties, many of which have no telegraph facilities. The election of Evans is now claimed by the republicans state committee by 10,000, and the re turns seem to justify their claim. The democaatic state committee however still stand pat on theit claim of 5,000 plurality for Gover nor Turney, and at this time it looks like the question will not be decided until official returns are received. KVAN? HAS IT, Returns have now been received • rom eighty-ono counties and they give Evans a purality of 3,114. Estimates on the fifteen remaining counties increase Evans’ plura’ity to 9,500. The legislature will cer taiuly be democratic. A summary of the returns shows that its composition will be eg fol lows: Senate democrats 20; repub licans 9; populist 3; doubtful 1- House—Democrats 57; republican 34; populist 7; doubtfull. Total —Democrats 77; populist 10; doubtful 2. There is no change in the situation an to the congres sional delegation which will stand 6 democrats and 4 republicans al though the democrats are elected by decreased pluralities.
