HANCOCK COUNTY When the records of Democrcy are being discussed, let no man fail to lift his voice in praise of that glorious little Republic of Han cock. It is true that Richmond led the State in Democratic ballots yester day, but take into consideration the population of the two counties and it will be found that Hancock is away up at the topnotch itself. THE SEVENTH KENTUCKY Lexington—The latest returns in the Ashland District give Owens 118 majority as follows: Majorities for Owdns—Scott, 257; Franklin, 435; Owens, 453; Oldham, 242; total, 1659 For Denny—Fayette, 1065; Woodford, 11; Bourbon, 437 ; Hen ry, 28; total, 1,541. Up to the time this legislature has done nothing but agonize over the distribution of the offices. Now it has an opportunity to go to work on the legislation which the people of the state expect from it. We think there can be little doubt that the chief thing which the people expect of this legislature is a new election law, that will insure" not merely cleaner elections, but a more inteligent electorate.—Ma con Telegraph.
