robbed of everything ot value on

majority of John C. Shaw, demo
crat, in the third congressional
district, is 1,118. He won there be
cause of the large vote cast for
Spears, republican, iv Craven and
Cumberland counties.
The state pension board today
prepared its list of pension allow
ances for this year.
There are eixty-eight of the first
class, their annual allowance be
ing S6B; 241 of the second-clas*,
with ssl allowance; 350 of the
third class, with $34 allowance,
aud 1,494 of the fourth class, with
sl7 allowance. There are also 2,-
743 widows, all of the fourth class
with sl7 allowance. There are ten
more pensioner* than last year.
The figures on the composition of
the next legislature a* given by
democrats today, give the fusion
ists a far larger majority than any
one expected, it being sixty-three
on joint ballot. The statement is
that there will be twelve demo
crats, sixteen republicans and
twenty-one populists in the senate
and forty-one democrats, thirty
two republicans and forty-seven
pophlisls in the hcuse.
