An explanation of the term “hay fever” is going the rounds of the press. An Ohio editor says that I hav fever is caused by kissing grass widows. An lowa editor thinks it is caused by kissing a hit* I girl while she is feeding hay to the cow. A wise Kansas editor is of the opin ion that it is caused by missing the girl and kissing the cow. The Ali- I niston Il®t Blast thinks it might probably be caused by kissing a ' girl on the lawn on a moonlight night. The Albany Herald says it j may be caused by a girl letting a i good chance pass during her hey day. And there are times, when a fellow may contract hay fever, or worse, by kissing his best girl without having a clov— er —but let that pass. THE OFFICIAL COUNT. Second District —Russell, 8,703; Smith, Third District —Crisp, 8.503; White, 2 568; majority, 5,935. Fourth District —Moses, 10,291 ; Thornton, 7,684; majority, 4 607. Fifth District—Livingston,7,393; Todd, 5,042; majority, 2,351. Sixth District—Bartlett, 11.608; Whitaker, 6,045; majority, 5.563. Seventh District—Maddox. 10,145 Felton, 8 583; majority, 1,562. Eighth District—Lawson, 10,586; Carter, 7,434; majority, 3,152. Ninth District—Tate, 14,551; Twitty, 10.546; majority, 4,005 Tenth District —Black, 20,903; Watson, 13,530; majority, 7,373 Eleventh District —Turner, 8 163; Johnson, 5,139; majority, 3,024 It will be seen that Black of the 10th polled the highest, or 20,903 votes, about 13,000 of them in Richmond county. Carter Tate of the 9th, is second with a vote of 14,551. Lester, of the Ist, is third with 11,828. Bartlet, of the 6th, is fourth with 11,608. Lawson, of the Bth. is fifth with 10.586. Moses, of the 4th, is sixth, with 10,291. Moddox, of the 7th, is seventh, with 10,145 votes. By. glancing over the above fig ures, it will he seen that “Our John” polled a bigger vote than Russell, Crisp, Livingston, or Tur ner. It will be seen, too, that Living ston, of the fifth, received fewer votes than any of his colleagues, and fewer than five of the popu lists, and this too, in Atlanta's teritory. The total democratic vote is 125, 183, and the total populist vote, the republicans concurring, is 77,066, or a democratic majori ty of 48,117 votes, or an average of 4,374 votes for each democrat. For individual majorities, Les ter, of the first, leads, while Judge Maddox, of the seventh, brings up the rear against that crafty old po litical fox, and aged floppist, Dr. Felton.
