Does Jim mean to say that The

bloomers? Jim wrongs us, for as

Dalton now claims a tobacco
chewing dog. Dalton must indeed
be a very fast town since even the
members of the canine family have
taken up the habits.of the Dalton

Did Jim ever hear about a big
bull dog chewing the seat of the
“habit” worn by Frank Reynolds,
on one occasion.

DELANEY’S MARRIAGES
Lead to Peculiar and Serious
Complications.
Louisville, Ky.,Noven b»r, 15.
The Delaney murder case nt
Morganfield took an interesting
turn today. It will be remembered
that two years ago Henry Delaney
wan forced to marry Abbie Oliver,
i He objected on the ground that he
| was engaged to a pretty school
teacher of ths neighborhood.
i On the way home from the Girced
ed marriage Delaney’s friends and
relatives fired into-the Olivers’
j carriage, killing the bride and her
j unborn chilif. Several of the at
tacking party were convicted, but
Henry Delaney, charged with com
plicity, was given a new trial.
In due time the parents >f the
school teacher made Delaney go to
I Shawneetown, 111., and marry the
'girl. Delaney’s case was called to
day, and Le asked a continuance
on the ground that his wife, whom
he married but three months ago,
is daily expected to become a
mother, and he should be with
her. Motion under consideration.

i most melancholy events that has
j happened here for years
Shortly after noon today Chan
cellor Allison, who was elected in
August, was shot and instantly
killed by Clerk and Master Whit

blood.
Judge Allison recently appoint
ed his son to the position of clerk
and master, a position that pays
about SIO,OOO a year, thus ousting
Whitworth, who in retaliation
shot the judge. Details of the af
fair are difficult to get at this time,
as everything is in the greatest con
fusion and much excitement pre
vails.
Judge Allison was a very popu

Burned to Death.
An infant child of Ada Martin,
colored, who lives in the North
eastern portion of the city, wa«
burned to death in a most horrible
way, while the mother was away,
on last Saturday.
The iufant was left in the oars
of a three year old sister while the
mother went to see some of her kiu.
{t had been left lying near the
heating stove on some quilts on th«
floor. Some fire in some way rolled
out on the floor and caught the
quilts and slowly hunted up with
the child laying eu them. The lit
tle one’s body presented a horrible
spectacle when the woman retim
ed, being burned almost to a crisp.
