The right division of the army stormed and captured the fort to the westwarn, with its artillery and parade grounds, at 8 30 o’cloi k in the morning, and then advanced in the direction of Port Arthur, s< >rming and capturing the Ko kmsau fort en route. In the meantime tho left divis ion stormed and captured the forts to the southeast. On the 22d, all the other forts were captured. The enemy fought bravely throughout. The Japanese loss in killed and wounded will not exceed 200, while the number of Chinese killed, wounded and taken prison ers is not yet known. The Japa nese captured a great quant : ty < f ammunition and other materials, j as well as many cannon. The Chi nese forces numbere 1 over 20,0QJ ' ANuTAEIi ACCOUNT. London, Nov. 26. — The Port Ar thur correspondent of the Cnotra.l N a ws sends tins di patch : ‘•M.«r«ba! (),ama had approach ed Port x»rtnur steadily lor two weeks with his armi'-s in two di visions. Passage was slow and dis icult, as the roads, wbeie there were any, were poor, and the artil -1 ry could be brought forward only after th- prisoners had prepared t the way. The villages were almost empty of supplies. Many of them h d oeen piuodered bare by rhe Chi nese . “Skinnisliing began on Nover. - her 17th. Every fort had heavy artillery, which was used with ef fect. The large Krupp guns at Hokinsan, apparently were servtd by skilled artillerists, and were especially destructive. On the evening of the 21st, the Chinese still held eight or nine redoubts on the coast and had twenty guns iu working order. The Japanese bi vouacked on the hills. Early on the morning of the 22d they began storming the redoubts. They ca, - tured Fort Laoinu after a sharp fight. The other positions were taken in quick succession without heavy losses to the Japanese. Eighty guns and an enormous q lantity of rice were taken. It was wholly a land fight. The course of events was signaled to t he Japanese fleet oil the coast. Those Chinese Names. In the course of his address las evening General Lee told a very funny anecdote on himself. He said that a New York telegraph operator spoke to a \\ ashington operator over the wire, asking if Fitz Low was in the city. The op erator al the national capit; Ididiit know whom the metropolitan was talking about, but after puzzling his brain, said: “Tnere’s no one here named Low, but Fitz Lee is in town.” The Gotham key manipulator promply telegraphed back: “])— n those Chinamen ; I never could keep their names straight.” —Richmond Dispatch.
