Felton, of Cartersville is in the city looking up election frauds for the contest between Dr. Felton and JudgH Maddox. Tomorrow morning Mr. Gordon Hile will go to Grantville, to act as an usher at the marriage of his old college mate, Mr. H. Abner Camp to Miss Ellen Zellars. Miss Zellars is well known here, as she was for a long while a student in Shorter College. Mr. John Fambro,of Rockmark spent yesterday in the city. Mrs. Dr. Watts, of Cave Sriug, came up to attend services yester day. Rev. W. W, D. Boyd preached at Adairsville yesterday morniyg at 11a.m. It was a very inieres ing and effective sermon on the sub ject of Prayer. Dr. N. W. Yesterday in the third Methodist Sunday School, a very touching incident occurred. It was the end of Mr T. J. Reece’s second year as superintendant of the School, and on this occasion hedeem ed it advisab’e to resign. Mr. Reese has endeared him self very much to every one in the school, and they were very un willing to give him up. But he was firm in his resolve, and with many tears and expressions of regret, his resignation was accepted But as a tukeu of their high esteem n.Wrver, the school oresgeted hi n with a handsome Oxford Bible dr. W* S Simmons, wis elected to the Superinlendencv Po’iibe Court. In spite of the influence of a city full of Methodist ministers, there were about the usual number of sinners in police cou r t this morning. Lark u< Jones, plain drunk, $3. 00. I am informed by the proper au thorities that t he Dalton Keely In stitute will be moved to this city on next Wednesday. The Institute will be located at the mafinificent old J. R. Freeman mansion about two and a half miles out, on the Summerville pike. There under the spreading boughs of those magnificent old oaks, will be fought many a battle and there many an enslaved life will burst its bonds and by the aid of scientific inven tion strike off its fetters. I, for one, welcome the Keely. *** That “Si Perkins band” cap tured the town today. The “Reu bins”and their horms were out in all their glory. Officer Copeland chased a quartett of them for a half block but li.;e the Chinese army they were only enjoying a run. ‘ ‘Si Perkins” is a favorite in Rome and if he dont have ;q big house tonight,—he will most.
