Clay is still having trouble on account of marrying 15-year-old Dora Richardson a few weeks ago. His son, Brutus, after finding the old general had procur ed a license to marry Dora, offered SSOO to have her kidnaped and s ent to a convent. The general heard of this and he armed Dora’s brother, McCl Hand Richardson, Bartow' Clark and one other farm hand and required them to guard the house and premises. Both Clark and Richardson are desperate men, and they obeyed Clay’s instructions so well that a few days ago when Ira Million came on the farm to drive off a steer which had strayed there, Clark shot at him. This made Mi - lion and R. C. Moor, fur ■whom le v o ked , mad and they threatened to take summary vengance on C art. Gen. Clay heard of this, and together with Clark and Richard son, all heavily’ arnned with shot gicuis and pisto s, went to Moore’s house and surroanded it. Mooie was not at home, but his wife came to the door and abused the Igeneial. She went to Richmond for the purpose of swearing out peace warrants against Clay and his men. but Brutus persuaded her to dr p the matter, and he sent several in fluential mett to see his father to induce him to abandon his war-| like purpose. They failed, and then Brutus sent for L >nwie Clay, the genral’s youngest and best-loved son. Lon nie arriv-d at White Hall, Wedne l - day nightand spent that night ai d nearly all of yestarday with his father and succeeded in making; ! him promise to disarm his army and live peaceably with his neigh-, bors.
