KLUSTER OF BULLS EYE SHOTS A few of Rome’s military men were holding a kurbstone konven tion this morning*in which the 2 X 4 legislative majority was most scathingly handled because of the failure to vote the military appr - priation. Suddenly a quiet, high private over next the gutter ’lowed : “It’s all right, comrades, Georgia don’t need us any more—not since the governor has commissioned his brigade of colonels”—and the boys turned and—the lass was on the ‘‘Bulls Eye Man.” The Hill City Cadets will hold a meeting in their Armoury tonight in which some important business will be transacted . The company will also discuss the selection of a new captain and possibly a couple of lieutenants. The tone of the Hill City Cadets is that they were a good military organization before the legislature helped the Georgia military—and they can be again. The Cadets’ motto is “Get there, stick and sti’’ there.” * * * Rome is progressive and right up to date—that fact was warmed in to me today as I sat and toasted in the electrically heated vestibule street car No. 10 as it dashed through the field of cotton bales on Broad Have you ritlden No. 10 yet? No? Then try it and see what real metropolitan, rapid transit luxury really is. I under stand that President Jack King has three other cars being fitted up with electric heaters. Kold Sto rage electric cars will soon be a thing of the past in this city. *** “You made a mistake yesterday in your Bull’s Eye Column,” said a prominent citizen and conserva tive Roman to me this morning. He then explained: “You’said that our next sheriff has only serv ed two years under Sheriff Moore, when you should have said four years. ” I shell down the corn ar d correct the statement, explaining that it was only the slip of the pen. Deputy Sheriff McConnell has been deputy four years and when he wins the race in 1897 he will then have been sheriff of Floyd for two years. “Mark that predic tion. * * « Talk about politics makeing strai.go bed fellows and a friend stick mg c'oser than a brother— hows this? Why he thinks so, I fail to see. Surely the Hebrews of this city are enter prising, progressive and prosperous. They could not enjoy the latt ir. unless they had the patronag • of the followers of the meek and low ly Nazarine. Perhaps brother Billy has recently been foundered on good, fat and tender goose meat Perhaps. The Indians Must go.
