SERVED HIM RIGHT A Disguised Young Desperado Meets Deat’r. AT HANDS OF THE MAN Hs Sought to Slay. His guilty Companions put to Flight bytneAged but Plucky intended Victim. Wild excitement Prevails. Buchanan, Ga., Dec. B.—The most destardly crime ever commit ted in Harrason county was perpe trated five miles west of here last night. About 6 o’clock three masked men entered the premises of Buck Summerlin, who is seventy four years old and is supposed to have considerable money about his house. Buck Thornton, with his face blacked, knocked at the door an i said he wanted to warm. Summerlin discovered that it was a white man and started to rise, when Thornton shot at him, but missed the mark. After the second shot, which resulted as the first, the Jman made at Thorn tonwith a knife and stabbed him several times. He then reached for his gun and as Thornton fell backward in the yard, shot him in the side. Just at this juncture, one of the men on the outside discharged his gun at Summerlin, the shot taking ef fect near the abdomen. The two unknown men made good their escape. Officers are in search of two boys who are sus| ect ed, but have so far been unable to find them. Jack Cooly, a negro, was arrest ed but will be releasted this after noon. Thornton lived but a few mi li nters and the coroner is now hold ing an inquest. Summerlin is still alive bu* can not live much longer. The great est excitement prevails. WORK OF WHITECAPS. Any studant entering the Short hand or Telegraph department of the Rome Business University, shall have their tuition from now till the Ist, of January free of charge. J. G. Harmison, Prop. FREE COINAGE OF SIEVES. The free and unlimited coinage of silver, the product of American mines, at the old ratio of 16 of silver to i of gold, is the only solution of and remedy for the disturbed and unsatis factory condition of trade, manufac ture and general business of the coun try. The surreptitious act of 1873, divorcing silver and gold in our mone tary system, was a crime of untold magnitude. It was the rankest kind of class legislation in favor of the wealthy against the producers of wealth, and hostile to the prosperity of the United States. It was an act of treason because done at the instance of a European syndicate and for bribe money, “giving aid and comfort to our country’s enemies.” To shield the guilty parties, the well authenti cated facts, often published, have been vigorously denied. The Enquirer will continue to ex pose this unpardonable crime until right and justice are done the people by the full restoration of silver to its old companionship with gold. We need the assistance of die people in disseminating the truth, to which end we invite all in your selection of pa pers for the coming season to include the Enquirer, that costs only SI.OO a year. (Issued twice a week.) Liberal commissions and cash re wards given to club raisers. Sample copies free. Enquirer Company, Cincinnati, O.
