Dr-Wood Scouring NewYerk For
His Runaway Wife.
New York. December 11 Dr. R’
L. Wood, a physician of Kansan
City, is now in this «ty in quest
of his runaway wife. The doctor is
about 40 years of ag-, and belongs
to one of the oldest and most
promim-ut families in the Missou
ri \ alley. His father was the most
prominent physician m the stat
som» 50years ago.
He claims that two weeks ago
hi® wife ran away from Kansas
City, taking with her their only
hild, a hoy about 10 years of ago.
A triend in Kansas (i y received
a letter a bout a week ago, which
was postmarked New York, saying
that she had determined to find
new home because her husband
abused her.
Dr. Wood was informed of the
receipt, of this letter and at once
started for this city. He says
that there is no man involved, in
his wife’s flight, and that it is his
belief that she has suddenly be
come insane.
On arriving in this city he em
ployed the detectives from a pri
vate agency and reported the mat
ter to police headquarters. He
brought with him a prominent
lawyer of Kansas City, with whom
and the detectives he was in con
sultation all day to-day.
The doctor denies that he has
treated his wife in any way that
could lead to charges of cruelty.
Mrs. Wood is supposed to be in hid
ing with friends, but four days’
search in this city has failed to
discover her whereabouts.
