Council Bluffs, lowa, Deceinbei 17. —John Huntington, remittance clerk in the Citizen's State l ank, of this city, this morning shot and seriously wounded F. N. Hayden, •f Chicago, and A Cromwell, of Minneapolis, respectively superin tendent and inspector of the Fi d ‘lity and ‘Casualty Company of New York city, and then commit ted suicide, shooting himself through the head, in the private office of the bank at First avenue and Main street. There was a shortage in the bank's accounts of SSOO, and this caused the act, Huntington was bonded by the Fidelity and Casual ity Company, and the two officers of the company were here to iiaves tigate the case. Circumstancn.l evidence wm against Hunttmgtoij, and he was the first object of their investiga tion, Before entering the private room in which the examination was being held, Hunttington took a revolver from a drawer in the re ceiving teller’s desk and put it in his pocket, The’inquiries of the investigators angered Huntington so that he drew ths revolver and began shoot ing. Hayden was shot through the , neck and then escaped from ths room. Cromwell was shot three times seriously and a fourth shot grazed the skin. Huntington then , fired the last load in the revolver into his own brain dying instantly. Cromwell and Hayden will recov er, b Turner s tickets never fail to ■L Cheaper than anybody. A SUNDAY FIGHT In the Peaceful iPrecinct of Cave Spring Cave Spring Ga., Dec., 17. This afternoon as Mr. Will Gains, who has a position with the Alli ance store, was coming from the depot on his bicycle, he was assault ed by four ruffians, Carter by name who live a few miles from here. It seems that the four were pretty full of whiskey and as Mr. Gains passed them one of them cursed him. Mr. Gains dismounted and asked him,“why you insult m% I will call for a police. ” As he said this one of the follows reached to grab him but Mr. Gains knocked him off. One of them cut at him. cutting his coat, j ist grazing the skin. Another hit. him on the head with brass knucks, During the scuf fle Mr. Gains succeeded in getting h good blow in one of their faces After this Mr. Ga : ns called for help, the ruffians ran off and the citizens began to congregate and formed parties to go after the as sailants. About 80 or 4# secured guns and pistols and put out, Mr. Gains, though hurt being among the nnmber.One of the fellows had a shot gui and when the party got pretty close to them,shot them. Mr. Moody Simms was slightly wounded in the right hand by the shot. Just before dark two of the fellows was captured in the woods and brought to Cave Spring.
