New York, D >c. 18. —A telegram received hereon Thursday announc ed the arrest in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, of MiH 4 . Marie Greville, ! thn thought reader* “formerly of . this city, on a charge ot having j murdered a French army officer. The victim’s name was not men tioned, but it is supposed that he was Arthur Ferman Guibal, at one time a First Lieutenant of the i French Chasseurs. The pair left New York for Mex ico last April, after playing a se ries engagements in the East. Lieutenant Guibal left in this city a wife and three children. He was a remarkable hypnotist. Mile. Greville he hired as an assisant while filling an engagement in France. No details of the alleged murder have been received, but at the French Consulate here it was said to day that Lieutenant Gui bal had expi red while in a hypno tic trance. A BAD JOKE That Will Cost Stephen Hayden His Eyesight Forever. Jeffersonville, Ind.. December 18.—John Mioken to-night per petrated a practical joke on Steph en Hayden who now mourns the loss of his sight. Hayden asked Micken for a pipe load of smok -11 g tobacco, at the same time hai.ding him his pipe. Inetead ot fil’ing the bowl with tobacco Micken substitued gunpowder. The pipe, with its dangerous con tents, was handed to Hayden. A m tch was applied and an explo sion followed, with the result stat ed.
