Sioux Falls, S D., Dec. 21. — Grenal excitement was caused in this city to-day by the fact becom ing known that what will prove to be the largest mastodon ever dis covered has been found east of this city. The discovery was mads over i a month ago by a farmer, and A. ■ 11. Stiles, a prominent druggist of this city, owns a half interest in it. Work has been going on ever • since but only a part of the mam- • moth has been uncovered. To-day > Mr. Stiles brought one of the teeth Ito the city and put it on exhibi tion at his store, w’xe e it attract ed a great; mount of attention. The tooth is eleven and ons-qvav l ter inches long, five inches across and eleven inches deep, but the , roots ;r i broken off and not full length. The skeleton of the mam moth is over eighty feet long and eighteen feet wide and has two tusks which Mr. Stiles says will weigh about But) pounds. Atkinson, I Governor of sai I State. i Whereas, Oiinformation has been receiv-d o this Depart ment, that on L. my of No- vember 1893, in the County of Gor don, Henry Walker committed a murderous* assault upon William Smith,|fr<un the effect of which said William Smith subsequently ! died, and that the said Walker I fled from justice and has ever since, evaded arrest: I have thought proper, therefore, bo issue this, my proclamation, hereby offering a reward of One Hundred and Fifty Dollars for the apprehension and delivery of said Henry- Walker to the Sheriff of said County and State. And I moreover charge and re 'quire vll Offieers in this State, i Civil and Military, to be vigilant iin endeavoring to apprehend the said Henry Walker in order that he may' be brought to trial for the offense with which he stands charged.
