It seems that Dan became a ‘‘Daniel brought to Judgement” after a most exci’- ing tussel with officer Joe Sharp; The scene us the same being laid en Fifth Avenue nesr the Second Bauist Church and the time abeut 3:80 o’clock yesterday morning. Officer Sharp noticed a couple of coens whose burdens looked suspi cious and darted around the block beaded them off at the church and ordered tnem to halt. Seeing that they were inclined to run the plucky officer grabbed one of them, when the other made a dash for liberty. While scuffling with his prisoner Officer Sharp fired two shots after the flying coon who, encouraged by the whist ling balls, ran completely out of his old overcoat and, by this writ ing, out of Floyd county. The man captured proved to be Daniel Jones and he was laden with one third of a b x of “News Boy” chewing tobacco, a 50lb sack of “Purity” flour and one third of a bolt of jeans. Messrs. Lanham <k Son swear to the goods but do not know how they were obtained by the thieves, as their store was not burglarized. The missing negroe’s name is Hen ry Graham. And the Fall of Nine veh was over. A half dozen extra police were sworn in this morning and are now on duty. By order of Mayor John D. Moore, the barrooms of the city will close tomorrow and it is hoped that the glad Christines tide will slip by without any serious inci dent or casualty resulting.
