Another Act passed at a subse quent session of the legislature goes further in the protection oi employees, and provides that when any railroad company discharges an employee it shall be tne duty of the campany, when requested so to do. to furnis such employee a specific statement of the cause ol discharge; and if such discharge was caused by any complaint or communication, then such com pin’at or communication, from whatever source it came, must be given in substance to such d;schag ed employee, together with the name of the company making such complaint or send mg such com munication. Then furthsr if the railroad company shall fail or refuse to give such informatien within twenty days from request to do so, or shall give a false statement of or concerning such camunication, or shall give a false rexson for the discharge of the employee, then the company so offendiug shall be liable to such discharged employee for damages in the lum es |5,000.
