Commenting on the report sent
out by the Constitution’s Mill
edgeville Correspondent, pertain
ing to the histing of Governor At
kinson by the Normal and Indus
trial College girlsexcerps of which
appear elsewhere, I want to say
that I have just about as much
faith in the honesty and the in
tegrity of the Board i f Trustees of
that Institution as I have in the
honesty and the integrity of the
faculty.
Now if the Board of Trustees
makes the rule that governs the
faculty—and thats exact'y what
it dors —th'o the faculty, despite
the doudle leaded specials that or
nament the columns of papers tha'
fought Governor Atkinson for tl
nominali n, may over reach its au
thority. I say this before I hear
what .Governor Atkinson has to say
and say it because I know that the
Governor of the state.of Georgia is
as honest as the sun and as chival
rows as any man who ever defend
ed a helpless woman.
•**
That the Constitutions four
column report is highly colored
goes without saying. Had it not
been a one sided affair it would
have had something from the lips
of some member of the Board of
Trustees ab ng with its detailed
argument in behalf of the Faculty
You just bet your bottom dollar
that Governor Atkinson is right—
and you will never go broka. Its
amusing to me, to see
the boys who fought Bill Atkinsons
nomination bitter’y—how for the
first tim i since the nomination
they sniff the Constitution partisan
air and stick their voices out of the
woods. They will goback again. See
if they ckm’t.

The New Cotton Seed Mills, fur
West Rome, are now assured. I
say this after seeing the result of
less than a four days canvass—a
canvass which has not really bee 1
a cinvass so much as it has been a
prospecting tour. I am informed
by the projectors, that, in addi
tion to the building site, which
La- been given by the Land Com
pany, committee has secured
about all the brick, lumber and
building material such as sash, and
doors and hardware building mate
ial, that will be needed in the big
building and sheds. This is to be
paid for in stock.
*
* *
Another party has agreed to
furnish all boilers needed in tin
plant and take his pay in stock
Os course these boilers are new
and wil be put in at lowest cash
prices.
* »
All that is now i eed d to com
plete the buildings, so far as ma
terial is concerned, is the tin roes
ing and the corugated iron. And
th se materials are being figured
upon.
* *
*
So far so good, but the projected
mills have gone fuither, and
is of course better. Quite a lot of
stock has been subscribed for bj
R nne people and others, who have
neen seen, say they will take stock
and will do so in the next few days
* *
*
Some of those who have subscrib
ed say that they intend to double
the amount if it becomes neeces
sary. And then there are a nunibe.
of farmers who have subscribed
and who propose to have stock in
the new mills if they have to pay
for the same in Cotton seed.
* *
•
Owing to a press of othbusi
ness Mr. John J. Black, the ] ro
posed president of the New Mills,
has not been able to make an ac
tive canvass, but will in a few

stock or information why you can
